Description

This 2017 Barbaresco red wine is one of the great wines of Italy's north-western Piedmont region.

In the region of Piedmont in Northern Italy, the Nebbiolo grape stands high above the rest. It has two personalities—the brutish wines of Barolo and the elegant, striking wines of Barbaresco. The wines from Barbaresco are its most feminine and elegant, but they can be as exciting and exhilarating as their neighboring Barolo wines.

These Barbaresco wines are medium ruby-red, with nice garnet highlights which become more marked on ageing. They are filled with aromas of sour cherry and forest berries, dry earth, cinnamon and clove spice, tobacco and potpourri. They will show high acidity and tannin, so they are best after a couple years of ageing. Once they get a few years in bottle, they reveal invigorating aromas of tart cranberries and cherries, cardamom, potpourri, and dry earth.
