Description

Barbera d’Asti DOC 1997 Ceppi Storici Araldica is a red wine from Asti, Piedmont, Italy, produced by Araldica, a historic estate dedicated to preserving Piedmont’s winemaking heritage. The Ceppi Storici line emphasizes traditional vineyard selections and older vines, showcasing the expressive power and elegance of Barbera grapes. The 1997 vintage demonstrates both freshness and complexity, offering a beautifully mature example of this classic Piedmontese variety.

Tasting Notes:
The wine displays a deep ruby-red color with garnet reflections along the rim. The bouquet is rich and layered, with aromas of red cherries, plums, and subtle blackberries, complemented by tertiary notes of leather, cedar, gentle spices, and earthy undertones. Aeration reveals balsamic and mineral hints, adding depth and refinement.

On the palate, it is medium-bodied with silky, well-integrated tannins and bright, balanced acidity. The finish is long and elegant, showcasing dried red fruits, soft spice, and subtle earthy nuances, reflecting both careful maturation and the distinctive character of Barbera d’Asti from historic vines.

Serving & Food Pairing:
Serve at around 16–18°C.

Pairs beautifully with roasted meats, braised stews, game, risottos, and medium- to aged cheeses. Its refined complexity also allows it to be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative tasting wine.

Producer:
Araldica is celebrated for producing wines that combine elegance, authenticity, and age-worthy potential. The 1997 Ceppi Storici vintage demonstrates the estate’s commitment to highlighting the character of older Barbera vines and the richness of Asti’s terroir.
