  • Description

The 2013 Burmester Colheita Port is a finely crafted single-vintage Tawny Port, aged in seasoned oak casks for approximately a decade before bottling. Made from traditional Douro grape varieties, this wine showcases Burmester’s dedication to elegant, balanced Ports that reflect both the character of the vintage and the refinement of careful ageing. Colheitas are a speciality of the house, and the 2013 is a fine example of their consistent quality and style.

In the glass, this Port displays a warm amber colour with copper glints, a sign of its slow maturation. The nose offers a delicate bouquet of dried fruit, toasted nuts, orange peel, and gentle spice. Notes of fig, caramel, and vanilla are layered with hints of cedarwood and toffee, creating a nuanced and inviting aromatic profile.

On the palate, the 2013 Colheita is smooth, silky, and medium-bodied, with beautifully integrated sweetness and acidity. Flavours of walnut, raisin, dried apricot, and soft baking spice unfold with each sip. The wine finishes with a refined, mellow length, leaving behind echoes of almond skin and citrus zest.

This Colheita is best served slightly chilled and pairs well with pecan pie, crème brûlée, aged cheese, or roasted nuts. It is also an excellent choice for sipping on its own. Thanks to its oxidative ageing, the wine remains stable and enjoyable for several weeks once opened — a practical luxury for lovers of aged Tawny Port.
