Description
The 1982 Château Grand Puy Ducasse is a mature Pauillac that beautifully reflects both its celebrated vintage and the estate’s classic Left Bank style. In the glass, it shows a deep brick-garnet hue with a soft, translucent rim—hallmarks of its graceful evolution.
The nose is wonderfully developed, offering layers of cedarwood, dried cassis, tobacco leaf, graphite, and old leather. Subtle notes of forest floor, mushroom, and warm spice emerge with air, delivering the kind of complexity only decades of bottle age can produce.
On the palate, the wine is gentle yet still confidently structured. The tannins have melted into a fine, silky texture, while flavours of mature blackcurrant, dried plum, cigar box, and earthy spice unfold gradually. The 1982 vintage’s natural richness is evident, but here it presents with elegance rather than power.
The finish is long, savoury, and refined, with lingering notes of cedar and dried fruit. Perfect for lovers of fully mature claret, this is best enjoyed now—ideally with roast beef, game, or simply as a contemplative glass for those who appreciate the beauty of aged Bordeaux.
