Description
This rare vintage Cognac was distilled in 1935 and matured for almost three decades in oak casks before being bottled in 1964 by Harveys of Bristol. Drawn from the chalky soils of Grande Champagne – the finest cru of Cognac – it offers a remarkable glimpse into a pre-war spirit that has rested in glass for over 60 years.
On the nose, the Cognac opens with deep aromas of dried apricot, fig and orange peel, layered with walnut, polished oak, and a touch of cigar box. There is an immediate sense of maturity, with soft rancio notes adding savoury depth.
The palate is supple and mellow, carrying flavours of candied fruits, roasted nuts, and gentle spice, balanced by a subtle honeyed sweetness. Decades of bottle age have rounded the spirit, giving it a smooth, almost weightless texture.
The finish is long and contemplative, unfolding with lingering notes of old wood, beeswax, citrus peel, and nutty rancio, leaving a lasting impression of history in the glass.
