Exclusive to Vintage Wine and Port

The 1966 Palmer Port Colheita (50cl) is an extraordinarily rare single-harvest Tawny Port, aged in seasoned oak casks for over five decades. From one of the most celebrated vintages of the 20th century, this half-bottle format offers a unique way to experience a wine of remarkable maturity and finesse. Ideal as a gift, for sharing, or for marking milestone occasions. Drink now or over the coming years.

    Tasting Notes:
Deep mahogany-tawny with glints of copper. The nose is beautifully evolved, showing aromas of dried figs, dates, roasted chestnuts, caramelised orange peel, coffee and sweet spice. The palate is silky and layered, with flavours of raisin, toffee, almond and molasses, balanced by bright acidity that provides freshness to the richness. The finish is exceptionally long, smooth and nutty, with lingering notes of dried fruits and fine oak.

    Serving Tips & Storage
Colheita Ports are bottled ready to enjoy and do not require decanting. Serve slightly chilled (12–14°C) to enhance aromatic complexity and freshness. This 50cl format is perfect for gifting or enjoying on special occasions, pairing beautifully with roasted nuts, dark chocolate desserts, treacle tart or mature cheeses. Once opened, the wine will keep in excellent condition for several weeks if stored upright in a cool place. Please store unopened bottles on their side, in a cool, dark environment away from heat and light.

Palmer is an independent Port house with a reputation for producing traditional styles at outstanding value. Samuel Palmer, a late ancestor of the Van Zeller family – once owner of Casa de Malladas – was a maverick and a remarkable icon in the trade of high-quality Port shipped to England. Paying attention to every single detail, the Van Zeller family have carefully aged their wines in the highest quality oak casks to ensure that they mature these rare elixirs as Samuel Palmer once wanted them to be. Specialising in Colheitas, Tawnies and Aged Ports, Palmer sources its grapes from the Douro Valley’s schistous vineyards, crafting expressive, authentic wines that combine heritage with elegance.

Colheita Port Storage and Serving Advice:
Colheita Port should be stored in a cool and dry place, sheltered from light and temperature fluctuations, and the bottle should remain in an upright position. If stored correctly, Colheita Ports will keep for decades in the bottle. Over time, it is natural that a little sediment will form at the bottom of a bottle of colheita Port wine. Once opened colheita Port should be stored in a fridge and should be consumed within 3 months. Colheita Ports do not require decanting and are best served at a temperature between 14 and 16°C.
