Description

1975 Barbaresco – Lequio Giuseppe (Piedmont, Italy)

A fully mature, classically styled Barbaresco that favours perfume and finesse over power. Brick-garnet with a broad tawny rim, it opens on dried cherry and cranberry, rose petal and violet, with cedar, leather and sweet tobacco, plus hints of orange peel, tea leaf and a gentle tar/balsamic lift. Mid-weight and savoury on the palate: lively, old-world acidity carries red-cherry fruit, dried herbs and subtle undergrowth; tannins are fine and resolved. The finish is long and tapering with cherry skin, cedar spice and dried flowers.

Producer note: Lequio Giuseppe is a traditional Barbaresco grower bottling in the classic mould—Nebbiolo from Langhe hillsides, long cask ageing and extended bottle rest, yielding wines that age into fragrance and silk.

Serve: 16–18 °C. Stand upright 12–24 hours; very gentle decant for sediment just before pouring.
Food pairing: Roast chicken with herbs, tajarin with butter and sage, porcini risotto, aged pecorino.
