1975 Brunello di Montalcino, Fattoria dei Barbi

    Tuscany, Italy

The 1975 Brunello di Montalcino from Fattoria dei Barbi is a deeply expressive wine from one of Montalcino’s most historic and respected estates. Barbi has long been regarded as a guardian of traditional Brunello, producing wines of remarkable longevity, depth, and authenticity.

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby-garnet hue with subtle amber tones along the rim, a testament to its graceful ageing. The bouquet is complex and evocative, offering aromas of dried cherry, plum, leather, forest floor, and tobacco, gradually revealing hints of herbs, spice, and truffle as it opens in the glass.

On the palate, it is silky yet structured, with softened tannins and a lingering backbone of freshness. Layers of dried red fruit, balsamic spice, cedar, and earthy minerality unfold with poise, leading to a long, savoury finish marked by gentle warmth and refinement.

    Serving & Pairing:
Serve at 18 °C after a light decant of around 30 minutes to allow the aromas to fully open. Ideal with roast lamb, game dishes, truffle risotto, or aged pecorino cheese, where its mature, savoury complexity can shine.

Drink now. A noble and fully evolved Brunello that reflects both the greatness of the 1975 vintage and the enduring craftsmanship of Fattoria dei Barbi.
