Callabriga is a contemporary red wine from the Douro; its intensity and elegance reflecting the versatility and passionate modernity of the region's wines. Callabriga is one of the most innovative wines of Casa Ferreirinha, a brand of global import that is renowned for producing Douro wines of superior quality.

Tasting Notes Casa Ferreirinha Callabriga is a deep ruby colour, almost opaque. An intense, really complex aroma, with notes of black and red fruits, pepper, resin and pine needles, with attractive, well-integrated oak. It has good body and acidity, high quality tannins, black fruit flavours, a hint of cocoa and a long, elegant finish.

Serving Tips & Storage A natural deposit may form in the bottle. It is recommended, after the 2nd year of bottling, that the wine be decanted before it is drunk. Serve at 16ºC-18ºC. This wine pairs wonderfully with meat dishes, such as roasted kid or grilled mature meat. It is also the ideal accompaniment to game or slightly fatty roasted fish. This wine is ready to drink but can remain at its best for a few years. Store the bottle in a horizontal position, away from light and heat.

This producer, founded in 1952, is named after the legendary Porto matriarch Dona Antónia Ferreira. She was affectionately nicknamed 'Ferreirinha' by her countrymen, and Casa Ferreirinha, the first producer in the region dedicated to making light wines, pays homage to her memory. Purchased by Sogrape in 1987, it has 520 hectares of vineyard in the Douro in all of its three sub-regions: Lower Corgo, Upper Corgo and Douro Superior. The winemaking is headed up by Luís Sottomayor.
