Description
This rare Riccadonna Vermouth Amaro di Torino is a striking example of Italy’s mid-20th-century vermouth production, made in Turin by the famous Riccadonna house. Designed for international markets, as shown by its “De Luxe Export” marking, it represents a time when Italian aperitivi and digestivi were capturing worldwide attention.
The bottle itself is beautifully decorated, with bold red and black livery accented with gold medallions, evoking prestige and elegance. It stands as both a collector’s item and a testament to the craftsmanship of the period.
In the glass, one would expect a deep mahogany-red vermouth with aromas of bitter herbs, cinchona bark, orange peel, and warm spice. On the palate, the Amaro di Torino style delivers richness and complexity: bittersweet orange, caramel, wormwood, and aromatic roots, finishing with a lingering, gently medicinal bitterness that balances the wine’s natural sweetness.
Well-preserved bottles like this are increasingly scarce, making it a superb collector’s piece for enthusiasts of vintage vermouths and amari. Whether displayed as part of a historic spirits collection or opened for an extraordinary tasting moment, Riccadonna’s Vermouth Amaro recalls the golden age of Italian aperitivo culture.
