Niepoort Port, Non Vintage

Niepoort VV
Very Old Tawny Port

Niepoort VV is one of the rarest and most extraordinary wines produced in the Douro—an exceptionally old tawny blend crafted from casks that have been ageing in the Niepoort lodges for many decades. Deep amber-mahogany in colour, it opens with a profound, richly layered bouquet of walnut, dried fig, orange peel, polished wood and fragrant spice. The aromatics are intense, refined and endlessly complex, showing the unmistakable character of ancient cask-aged Port.

On the palate, VV is concentrated yet ethereal, delivering a seamless wave of caramelised fruit, dried apricot, roasted nuts and hints of molasses and balsamic warmth.

Pere Magliore, Non Vintage

12 years aged Calvados

Appearance:
Deep amber with warm golden highlights. Medium viscosity; slow, steady legs on the glass.

Nose:
Cooked apple, baked pear, and apple tarte tatin straight away. Soft vanilla and toffee from long oak ageing, followed by gentle baking spices (cinnamon, clove). A faint oxidative note — walnut skin, dried apple rings — especially common in older bottlings.

Palate:
Round and well-integrated. Stewed orchard fruit, caramelised sugar, and honeyed apple lead, balanced by oak spice and a light nuttiness. The age shows in the smoothness rather than heaviness — no sharp alcohol edges, just mellow warmth.

Porto Valriz, Non Vintage

Very Very Old White Port
in Original Silk-lined Case
50cl Bottle
18/20 - Jancis Robinson

A very rare and very old white port blended from two casks (1900 and 1960). Golden white color; with intense aroma of honey and dried fruit, highlighting the almond and fig. Excellent dry port flavour: fat, soft, velvety and very persistent. Crown jewel of Coimbra de Mattos's family.

Coimbra de Mattos, a Douro family committed to viticulture and wine production since many years ago – a testimony of that commitment is the medal awarded to Christovan Ayres de Mattos, grand-uncle of the current owners of the family company, in the Exposition Universelle de 1900 (Paris International Exhibition of 1900).

Royal Esmeralda 20 Year Old Amontillado

Nose: elegant, fragrant and rather creamy, with sweet toffee, dried apricot and lots of almonds. Round and honeyed. There are nice overtones of the original Fino, with old flor and a refreshing lemony note. Hints of Gianduja, cinnamon and varnished oak, and the lightest whiff of smoke.

Palate: a fairly high acidity at first (lemons, oranges), slowly becoming rounder with marzipan notes, lots of nutty notes (almonds, hazelnuts, cashew) and a warm oaky glow. Fades on light pepper and earthy / umami qualities. Very pleasant and rather complex.

Tobago Combo, Non Vintage

Fortified Italian sweet wine

A rare vintage “Tobago Combo” house-bottled Italian aperitif-style wine produced for Harry’s and bottled by Pilla in Italy. This 17.5% fortified wine-style drink reflects mid-century Venetian hospitality traditions, combining neutral alcohol, cane spirit, sugar, and citrus aromatics to create a smooth, lightly sweet and easy-drinking profile. Labelled “per conto della Harry’s,” it is a proprietary house blend rather than a commercial appellation wine, making it an interesting piece of hospitality history and a distinctive collector’s item.

Vermouth, Non Vintage

Cinzano Dry Vermouth (c. 1960s–1970s)

This bottle of Cinzano Dry Vermouth dates from the 1960s–1970s, instantly recognisable by its bold green-and-white design and mid-century typography. The phrase “Special for Cocktails” on the neck label highlights its role in the booming international cocktail culture of the post-war era, when Dry Vermouth had become indispensable in classics like the Martini and Gibson. The ivy motif on the label reinforces the natural botanical character that defined Cinzano’s style.

By this period, Cinzano had firmly established itself as one of the great names of Italian vermouth, competing globally with Martini & Rossi.

Pistone Vermouth Amaro Nastro Azzurro (c. 1970–1975)

This striking Pistone Vermouth Amaro Nastro Azzurro hails from the early 1970s, a golden age for Italian aperitivi and digestivi. The bold turquoise-and-white label, combined with its ornate floral detailing, captures the confident design trends of mid-century Italy, when vermouth makers vied for international recognition with distinct branding and adventurous styles.

As an amaro-style vermouth, this bottling bridges the gap between classic sweet vermouth and the more herbal, bitter liqueurs for which Italy is famed. Expect a deep, mahogany colour in the glass, with aromas of wormwood, gentian root, citrus peel, and subtle spice.

Montanaro Bianco Vermouth (c. 1975–1982)

This rare Montanaro Bianco Vermouth is a fine example of Piedmontese craftsmanship from the late 1970s. Presented in an elegant brown glass bottle with a striking black-and-gold label, it reflects Montanaro’s reputation for combining tradition with sophistication. The artwork, featuring a vivid figure in red, gives the bottle a theatrical character—perfectly in keeping with the Italian aperitivo culture of its era.

The Bianco style of vermouth is typically softer and more aromatic than the classic rosso, offering a lighter golden hue in the glass. Expect notes of citrus peel, chamomile, vanilla, and alpine herbs, with a delicate sweetness balanced by gentle bitterness.

Gancia Vermouth Amaro di Torino (c. 1970s–early 1980s)

The Gancia Vermouth Amaro di Torino is a striking example from the house of Gancia, one of the pioneers of Italian sparkling wine and vermouth production. The ornate red-and-gold label, accented with heraldic shields and flourishing vine motifs, is typical of the 1970s–early 1980s era, when Italian producers were exporting heavily and leaning into highly decorative branding to emphasize tradition and prestige.

This style of Amaro Vermouth blends the classic sweet vermouth base with the more assertive, bitter botanicals of Italy’s amaro tradition. Expect layers of wormwood, gentian, and bitter orange peel, balanced by warming spices like clove and nutmeg, and underpinned by dark caramel sweetness.

Carpano Punt e Mes Vermut (c. 1970s–early 1980s)

This vintage bottle of Carpano Punt e Mes dates from the 1970s–early 1980s, a period when Italian vermouth was enjoying a surge of international recognition. The bold red diagonal label with oversized lettering is instantly recognizable and reflects the era’s emphasis on striking, export-friendly design while still carrying the heritage reference to “Palazzo Bracco – Torino.” It’s a label that bridges classic Italian tradition with a more modern, confident look.

Punt e Mes, meaning “point and a half” in the Piedmontese dialect, has always stood apart from other vermouths for its unique balance: one point of sweetness and half a point of bitterness.

Carpano Antica Formula Vermouth (c. 1970s–1980s)

This bottle of Carpano Antica Formula dates to the 1970s–1980s, a revival-era release of the world’s most iconic vermouth. With its parchment-style label, ornate baroque scrollwork, and the historic “Palazzo Carpano – Torino” designation, the design pays homage to the original 18th-century presentation. The red wax capsule gives it an artisanal, almost apothecary feel, reinforcing its image as a premium, old-world vermouth.

The Antica Formula is based on the original recipe created by Antonio Benedetto Carpano in 1786, considered the invention of vermouth itself. This “antica” bottling was relaunched in the mid-20th century to celebrate Carpano’s heritage, and by the 1970s it had become a cult favorite among bartenders and connoisseurs.

Antica Formula - Francesco Cinzano

This striking bottle of Cinzano Antica Formula dates from the 1960s–1970s, a period when Cinzano was proudly showcasing its deep historical roots. The parchment-style label, adorned with ornate scrolls, coats of arms, and the red wax capsule, evokes an old-world apothecary aesthetic, mirroring Carpano’s own heritage style. The bold “Antica Formula” title links it directly to Cinzano’s earliest vermouth recipes, originally created in 1757 by Giovanni Giacomo and Carlo Stefano Cinzano in Turin.

By the 1960s, vermouth was at the height of its popularity across Europe and beyond, embraced both as an aperitivo and a cocktail essential.
