Sandeman, 1927
Vintage Port
Mid-high Shoulder.
This also did well in a blind tasting of '27s. It is a wonderful wine, with mature aromas of raspberries and roses, medium-bodied, with lovely, sweet, balanced fruit flavors and a long finish. Score: 92

Taylor Fladgate, 1927
Vintage Port, DOC Douro
Bottled by D E Sandeman
Taylor’s 1927 vintage port is one of the most sought-after and expensive of all vintage Ports, and this wine, from an acclaimed vintage, is at the top of the tree. Released at 'just' 20 pence a bottle in 1929 much of the stock remained unsold due to large volumes and economic depression. Now nearly one hundred years later, this is one of the most sublime and most sought after ports.
Critics reviews:
95 Points James Suckling. " This blows the '35 off the table. It is incredibly concentrated yet superbly balanced. It lives up to Taylor's lofty reputation. Medium ruby-garnet, with intense raspberry and blackberry aromas, full-bodied, with rich, velvety, ripe raspberry flavors and a long thick, rich finish. …

Baron de Sigognac, 1926
Vintage Armagnac
Heir of many centuries of savoir-faire and tradition: the Sigognac house is one of the oldest one of Armagnac.
In Armagnac, legend has it that, one day long ago,
Baron de Sigognac took all the traditional clocks
out of his cellars.
Fascinated by the mystery surrounding
the way Armagnac ages so well,
he had some very strange timepieces made.
On these clocks, the face had ten divisions instead of twelve.
The seconds had become years, the big hand moved only once a decade and the hour hand marked the centuries.
Baron de Sigognac had found the core of the mystery of Armagnac ageing : time and patience…
The legend adds that, …

Toro Albalá
Toro Albala Centenario Single Cask | 100 year-old Pedro Ximinez.
98 Points- Robert Parker
The Toro Albala Centenario wines are a special release to celebrate 100 years of Toro Albala. They have been chosen to convey the character and spirit of the winery. They are the result of Antonio Sánchez and each of the workers’ efforts and care for years.
The Pedro Ximénez was a wine selected by Antonio Sánchez decades ago, with a very special purpose, to share them during Holy Week with his friends and family. They were only opened on those dates, the rest of the year they wouldn’t allow anyone to touch them. Today, Antonio has decided it’s time to share them with the rest of the world.
Tasting Note

Taylor Fladgate, 1924
Vintage Port, DOC Douro Unlabelled ID from cork. Excellent provenance Level Very Top Shoulder.
‘Just a notch deeper in colour than the 1912. The nose is divine: intense, beautifully defined, very Taylor’s. Quite spicy, dried orange peel, cigar box, a touch of sandalwood. Gains perfume in the glass but after 30 minutes has gone back into its shell. The palate is full-bodied, very concentrated, more viscous than the 1912. Notes of ginger, apricot, fig, licorice. Lovely ripe orange-tinged finish that goes on and on. Very sensuous; beautiful poise on the fruit.’

The vineyard and buildings occupy a southeast-facing slope between 160 and 390 meters above the confluence of the Douro River with its tributary, the Pinhão River.
In 1893 it was purchased by the prominent Port wine merchant Cabel Roope. …

Fonseca Port, 1922
Vintage Port, DOC Douro
Pale tawny brown at the core, fading to amber with olive highlights at the rim. Faultless nose, extraordinarily complex, with notes of cedar, tobacco and orange flower perfectly intertwined, a sumptuous mellow undertone of molasses and butterscotch and a halo of fresh, minty herbal scent. An hour after decanting, the wine opened up an exotic spice chest of nutmeg, black pepper, cumin and, tobacco, later joined by coffee, aromatic wood and dried rose petal. Dense, thick, almost treacly palate, holding the spirit firmly in place and underpinned by a crisp acidity. A luscious infusion of treacle and toffee lingering into the endless finish. …
