This Crusted Port Wine from Quevedo is a blend of carefully selected young ports from two or three vintage years, bottled without any fining or filtration in the year indicated on the label. After many years of bottle ageing in ideal conditions in Oscars cellars in Sao Joao da Pesqueira, it has developed the magnificent bouquet and flavour unique to bottle matured wines.

The 2021 Altano Douro wine is full bodied but soft textured, this Dourored is incredibly moreish, full of rich red fruits and spices. Grapes are sourced from the Symington family’s own Dour Valley vineyards.

Altano is a blend of Tinta Roriz that provides the rich berry fruit and Touriga Franca that adds a lifted floral character, the majority of the blend was aged in American and French oak casks to soften up the muscular tannin of the Douro grapes so the wine is ready for immediate drinking. The Symington family only produce this Vintage Port when these vineyards deliver wines of incomparable elegance and complexity. Given that the stone terraces are comprised of just a limited number of vines, the quality does not always align with the pattern of classic Vintage Port declarations - as was their assessment for 2021 and they are not producing any classic Vintage Ports from this year. …

Acquired by the Fortunato family in 1941, it has remained their independent family company, dedicated to the production of port wine.
