Refined and elegant, reveals richness in the aromatic diversity with noted of nuts, cocoa and wood splashed by a subtle vinegar denoting a great style.Full-bodied, round and concentrated mouth. This is a rare and limited release of the 1958 Madeira from the family cellars. The bottles are in perfect condition. There is something ethereal about tasting such a rare vintage. The 1958 Boal is very dry as one would expect from this style of Madeira. There is a huge amount happening on the complexity front with some bitter nut skin notes with dried flowers and citrus pith. Although quite dry, this does not come across as too severe. An electric wine that is astonishingly refreshing. Massive finish that goes on and on.

Blandy’s Vintage Bual 1957 as a crystalline bright colour with golden highlights, Mahogany colour with a greenish hue. Exuberant and intense aroma. Balsamic notes, spices and nuts. We can also find highlight aromas of candied fruit, vanilla and walnut shell. The palate is concentrated, medium sweet, very round, with a long aftertaste leaving notes of spices, dried fruits and exotic woods.

Blandy’s Colheita Bual 2003 was aged for 12 years in seasoned American oak casks in the traditional ‘Canteiro’ system, wherebythe wine is gently heated by warm air in the lofts of the company’s south-facing lodge in Funchal.

Review:
The 1957 Colheita Tawny Port was seen before, but it's worth revisiting in the USA, since it's a great wine. This is also the new 2015 bottling. It has 127 grams per litre of residual sugar. It is stunning how youthful this is. Lush and rich on opening, it has mature flavours that emerge, easily demonstrating the complexity and concentrated aromatics one expects. Gripping on the finish, this delivers fruit flavour and seems to linger indefinitely.

Quinta do Noval Port, 1957

Late Bottled Vintage Port

A beautiful and extremely rare bottle.

The 1957 Quinta Do Noval LBV was produced by the traditional Port method, with a long, intense maceration during alcoholic fermentation with the aim of extracting tannin, colour and flavour from the skins. This was done both by foot-treading in traditional granite lagars (shallow vats), and by pumping over. Fermentation temperatures and densities were carefully monitored to choose the ideal moment to fortify. The wines remained in the Douro until the spring when they were transported to Vila Nova de Gaia to mature in large oak vats.

Barbaresco, 1956

Mirafiore

Barbaresco is one of the great wines of Italy's north-western Piedmont region. This aristocratic red has its vineyards situated in the Langhe, on the right-hand side of the Tanaro river and extending from the area north-east of Alba to the communes of Barbaresco, Nieve and Treiso. The dominant variety grown is Nebbiolo, but Dolcetto and Barbera also play a part. The vines are generally grown on limestone-rich marl soils. similar to the Tortonium soils of the Barolo and La Morra areas in Barolo. Similar to its more famous sibling Barolo, Barbaresco is made from 100% Nebbiolo and shares its cult status as one of the finest wines in the world.
