Burmester Port, 1952

Colheita Port in branded wooden case

We are delighted to offer a UK exclusive on Burmester Colheita Ports.

Reviews:
"(2015) Lovely dark caramel colour, with some truffle and tea notes, edges of olive and green fruits (fig). The maturity on the palate is obvious, again with fabulous sweetness and brown sugar richness, Muscovado and walnuts, but the hallmark of the fresh orange and lemon acidity plays against that and the coffee and walnut cake sweetness and richness." Tom Cannavan Winepages.com

95 Points Wine Advocate - Mark Squire Mar 2016
The 1952 Colheita, bottled in November 2015, is a field blend coming in at 127.9 grams per liter of residual sugar.

Madeira, 1952

MBV - Tinta Negra - Bottled by Barbeito

This is a rare and very limited release of the 1952 Madeira from the family cellars. That we were able to acquire. bottled in 2017. The bottles are in perfect condition.

Reviews "There is something ethereal about tasting such a rare vintage. The 1952 Tinta Negra is very dry as one would expect from this style of Madeira. There is a huge amount happening on the complexity front with some bitter nut skin notes with dried flowers and citrus pith. Although quite dry, this does not come across as too severe. An electric wine that is astonishingly refreshing. Massive finish that goes on and on.

The extended barrel aging has given this wine a complex fusion of dried fruit and cedar notes. On the palate the wine is smooth and full bodies with plenty nuts and sweet fruit on the palate, fine balance. A tremendous finish which goes on forever. Sherry, 1952

Harvey's Bristol Milk Sherry
Bottled in 1952 - LEVEL MID SHOULDER

This Bristol Cream sherry wine, was bottled in 1952. An intense sherry that balances sweet and bitter notes with hints of nuts and oranges.

In the late 17th century, sweetened Oloroso was hugely popular in the UK. It was known as milk sherry or Bristol Milk, because most of the sherry trade to the UK was passing through the port of Bristol. Different types of wines arrived in Bristol and they were blended to create a sweet, smooth mixture.

Cockburn Port, 1950

Vintage Port
Unlabelled identification from Cork visible through glass

Reviews

"Surprisingly good depth of colour: mid-deep centre with a thin browning rim; lovely, pure scented, floral aromas, esteva (gum cistus) still fresh and fragrant; gentle, sweet fruit, still lithe, creamy milk chocolate intensity, long and fine with peppery length. Lovely balance and one of the best 1950s that I have tasted. Wyndham Fletcher (ex-Cockburn’s) described this as a ‘useful rather than a great year’. " Richard Mayson, 2012 Richard.mayson.com

During his apprenticeship he had been in constant contact with an old school friend, John Patient, residing at that time in Charles Town, South Carolina who suggested that they themselves should commence trading. Leacock agreed and this marks the birth of the now world famous company.
