Messias, 1965

Colheita Port, Douro
Bottled in 1978

Tawny colour with a little haziness to be expected in older colheita ports. Aromas of dried fruits, roasted nuts, wood and spices due to the prolonged time this wine has spent in cask and due to the gradual oxidation which created a soft and harmonious port full of complex flavour characteristics. The finish is long and satisfying.

Colheita Port Storage and Serving Advice:
Colheita Port should be stored in a cool and dry place, sheltered from light and temperature fluctuations, and the bottle should remain in an upright position. If stored correctly, Colheita Ports will keep for decades in the bottle.

La Peyriere

Monbazillac is an AOC appellation for sweet wines made in an area in the wider region of Bergerac, in South western France. While not as famous as their western neighbours from Sauternes, Monbazillac wines are some of the most well-known sweet white wines produced in France, from botrytis-affected Muscadelle, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Tasting notes: Nice and clean bouquet, modest richness, gravel and liquorice, aromatic, sufficient acidity and length.

1964 Barolo Mirafiore, 1964

Sale

Mirafiore, Piedmont, Italy
Excellent Provenance

From the great Italian 1964 wine vintage, this wine has been cellared at Mirafiore until purchase by our Italian buyer.

Reviews:
"Highly perfumed amaretto, truffle, rose, toasted sesame, saddle leather, damp earth. Quite prominent acidity on the medium bodied palate, Morello cherries, confection, Christmas cake and baking spice. Quite graceful poise, with still some tannic reserve. Got better as the hours rolled on. Delightfully youthful, freshening with air." Cellar Tracker Review (2017)

Ryst Dupeyron Armagnac, 1964

Sale

Ryst Dupeyron Reserve Joseph Millesime vintage Armagnac
50cl bottle
Includes cardboard gift box

This 60 year old Armagnac from 1964 makes a wonderul gift for someone celebrating their 60th Birthday or anniversary.
The 1964 Dupeyron Armagnac is the expression of a single year and has a unique character associated with the year and the cask in which it has been stored. These vintages are bottled at the alcohol level in which they naturally come out of the cask. There is a wonderful contrast between the sweet and sour flavours of wood, amplified by the strong alcoholic degree. Rich palate feeling the alcohol and the concentration of dry plums, spicy with persistent flavour of rancio and of spices, but round, soft and long in the finish.

Bodegas Toro Albalá, 1964

Palo Cortado, Marques De Poley 1964, Montilla-Moriles.
***94-96 Points - Robert Parker***
20cl Luxury Gift Pack

This is an award-winning wine from 1964 that will challenge your senses! Dry in style with aromas of very old wine and a volatile twist, this wine may come across first as harsh - but there are so many layers and so much complexity beneath this. At our own tasting, it was the one we talked about the longest. There is no middle ground with this wine! 92/100 TC VWP.

This wine’s origin is the result of Antonio Sánchez personal choice over fino wine butts that had a different profile from the rest. After a long time and process of ageing, it acquired a great aromatic complexity. It’s one of the winery’s treasures, acknowledge with a Platinum medal in the Decanter DWWA awards with 97 points.

Bodegas Toro Albalá, 1964

Don PX 1964, Montilla-Moriles.
20 cl Luxury Gift Pack
***99 Points - Robert Parker***

D.O.P. Montilla-Moriles.

After harvesting the grapes in the month of August, with temperatures up to 45ºC, and after the sun drying process, a must was produced and, after remaining at rest for a year, went into wood. It was made in the first week of September. After raisining for 9 days and subsequent pressing, a must with a high sugar content was obtained which, after a rest period, was alcoholized before being aged in American oak casks. “Convento Selección” are wines that have aged for generations in amontillado butts so that the wine and wood could merge with time and result into an unmatchable flavor.

Barolo, 1964

Giovanni Scanavino

Barolo is known as the 'king of wines' and is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Heady aromas of rose, leather, vanilla, cherry, pepper, cranberry, strawberry. Fruits are perfectly knitted with the tannins and acidity. It's a powerful wine but remarkably subtle. Don't underestimate it and certainly serve it with food to show at it's best. Nebbiolo has naturally high tannins and acidity, so it will take on full-flavoured, rich foods no problem at all.
