Joao Romao Teixeira Madeira, 1860
Terrantez
This old Madeira formed part of the highly esteemed private reserve of Joao Romao Teixeira (1864 - 1933), a prominent wine producer at Lugar de Baixo in southwest Madeira. J
oão Romão Teixeira was a descendant from one of the captains that sailed alongside Zarco when Madeira was discovered. This is part of a collection that was discovered by OP brothers in 2015. The bottles were in a poor condition and were re-corked and relabelled.

Berry Brothers and Rudd, 1858
New
Special Reserve Port
Originally 1858 Vintage (refreshed).
Label is incomplete. This bottle is an enigma as we are unable to find similar bottles. The labels says 1858 vintage and below this it says refreshed. Our assumption is that the base is 1858 blended with another year. We have contacted BBR to enquire about the origins of this wine.

Porto Valriz, 1858
Very Old Tawny (Single Harvest Port)
Coimbra de Mattos
This Port wine is one of the oldest available in the world! The wine was produced in 1858 by Domingos Ayres de Mattos (1829-1890) and kept in bottles in the cellar of his residence, “Casa de Cima”. Domingos’ son Antonio Ayres de Mattos (1879-1956), father of the current owners of this family owned business, was aware of the wine’s exceptional quality and (possibly motivated by sentimental reasons), wanted to leave the destiny of such a ‘treasure’ to his heirs. The wines were tasted in 1969 and again in 2013 for quality control. Almost the entire stock was found to be in perfect condition. In 2013 the owners decided to re-bottle and sell a small quantity of this exceptional port. …

D'Oliveiras Madeira, 1850
Verdelho Madeira
*** 97 Points Wine Advocate ***
"The 1850 Verdelho remains an exquisite Madeira that is one of the finest ever produced in this, the founding year of the winery. It has a well-defined bouquet with seductive notes of fresh marmalade, quince, dried mango and melted candle wax. The palate is crisp and well-defined with superb acidity that is perfectly in tune with the spice-laden vestiges of decayed fruit. It is fresh and taut, performing impressively for its 162-years of age." The Wine Advocatey).
19.5/20 Verdelho 1850 Reserva
Colour: very dark mahogany brown, softened by golden shimmer. …

Amontillado Viejisimo, Domecq
The House of Domecq has spent almost three centuries pleasing sherry-drinkers of every stripe, including the royalty of Spain and England. They have also grown, eventually becoming part of the enormous corporate tapestry that is Allied Domecq, which owns a diverse range of wine and spirit producers.
This Amontillado captures vestigial freshness from the flor yeast, which has been allowed to die, in return adding colour, texture and complex malty hazelnut flavours to an unnervingly complex ensemble.
