Tasting Notes
A small area at the heart of the Quinta do Noval vineyard planted with ungrafted vines and untouched by phylloxera. The word “Nacional” refers to the fact that the vines are Portuguese vines growing in Portuguese soil with no foreign root stock, and are therefore “attached to the soil of the Nation”. This great wine is a source of pride to the people of Portugal, and at its best the finest expression of the extraordinary terroir of Quinta do Noval.

100 Points Wine Enthusiast
"This is going to be a major, impressive wine. All the elements are there: ripe blackberry fruit, powerful acidity, dense tannins and spice. It has the structure to live on for decades. Drink from 2030. ROGER VOSS - Wine Enthusiast"

Wine from Sandeman is an exceptional wine produced from carefully selected grapes exclusively from Quinta do Seixo, a winery situated in the Cima Corgo sub-region, in the Douro Region.

An almost opaque deep red colour.

Klein Constantia, 2015

Vin De Constance - Klein Constantia

Since being introduced in 1986, Vin de Constance has consistently appeared in lists of the world’s top wines.

A rich, dark golden honey colour with intense perfumed nose of complex spice, cloves and vanilla. Developed secondary flavours of orange marmalade and dark chocolate. An intriguing and ever-evolving wine. The bold, sweet palate is perfectly balanced by tight acidity which results in a long-lingering honeyed finish.

Croft Port, 2011

Vintage Port HALF BOTTLE 37.5cl

This 2011 Vintage Port Wine from Croft comes from the near perfect viticultural conditions in the Douro Valley and Croft's highly regarded Quinta da Roêda during 2011. This Quinta always forms the core around which Croft craft their Vintage Port blend, yet in this excellent year all of the blend's components have been sourced from here, producing a scented, exotic and lusciously opulent style. In the words of wine-maker David guimareans, the high perfomance of Quinta da Roêda gave this vintage 'an additional layer of density and depth of flavour' with silky, integrated tannins and powerful grip on the finish.

Taylor's Port, 2011

Vintage Port Single Bottle

The 2011 Taylor's Vintage Port Wine is made only in exceptional years, following the rigorous selection and tasting process to meet the requirements for declaration. Historically Taylor's has only declared a maximum of 3 vintages per decade. 2011 has been hailed as a classic vintage by all accounts. Ideal ripening conditions in this year have led Fladgate wine-maker David Guimaraens to conclude that the 2011s 'stand out for the purity of the fruit and the quality of the tannins, which are silky and well integrated but provide plenty of structure. The 2011 vintage is textbook Taylors in its structured aromatics and elegance (according to Fladgate Managing Director Adrian Bridge).

Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 2009

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe,

*** 99+ Points Robert Parker ***

Reviews:
The main reason the 2009 Lafite Rothschild did not receive a perfect score is because the wine has closed down slightly, but it is unquestionably another profound Lafite, their greatest wine since the amazing 2003. Among the most powerful Lafites ever made (it came in at 13.59% alcohol), the final blend was 82.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot. The selection was incredibly severe with only 45% of the crop being utilized. A tight, but potentially gorgeous nose of graphite, black currants, licorice and camphor is followed by a full-bodied wine revealing the classic elegance, purity and delineated style of Lafite.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2009

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

The wine has a very deep, almost black colour. The stylish and complex nose displays aromas of bilberry, blackcurrant and blonde tobacco that mingle with subtle cedarwood and spice notes. The same refinement and density are to be found on the palate with patrician, well-rounded tannins, revealing remarkable structure and balance right through to the long and opulent finish. A great success for a Mouton Rothschild that will undoubtedly get the utmost out of the exceptional qualities for which the 2009 vintage has already been hailed.

Gevrey Chambertin, 2009

Gevrey Chambertin Aux Echezeaux 2009 Vieille Vigne Domaine Fourrier

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Echezeaux opens with an exuberant bouquet of roses, berries and spices. It shows gorgeous depth and finesse in a weightless, elegant style. The round, textured finish is gorgeous. Aux Echezeaux is on the border with Morey. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. (AG) (5/2011)

88-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound
(from .47 ha parcel planted in 1930) A very fresh, cool and bright nose speaks of red berry fruit, warm earth, underbrush and a hint of the sauvage that carries over to the supple but entirely serious medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent precision on the firm, focused and persistent finish.

100 pts Wine Enthusiast - Its aroma is intense and of excellent complexity, with saliency for the bright red fruits, spices such as pepper and clove, balsamic notes to cedar, resin and tobacco box. Also note the notes of asparagus and artichokes, sous-bois and the aromas of wood of excellent quality and in perfect harmony. Chateau Cos d'Estournel, 2008

St Estephe, 2eme Cru Classe (Half Bottle 37.5cl)

The 2008 Cos d'Estournel is inky/purple-hued and is still very young most likely to improve even further as the wine came out of malolactic fermentation very late. It reveals exceptionally precise, fresh aromas of black fruits, crushed rocks, licorice, flowers, and subtle smoke. Dense and high in tannin, the extraordinary richness of polyphenols has given the wine power, substance, and depth, but the sweetness of the tannin and the seemingly low acidity, even though the wine tastes remarkably fresh and the pH is only 3.57 (compared to pH’s close to 4 when the fruit is this ripe), has given the wine a precision and elegance that is remarkable.

Dom Perignon, 2006

Champagne in Presentation Case

"The wine’s opulence – contained and succulent, round at heart – reveals itself in the mouth". The envelope slides and stretches, and the wine becomes more complex and edgy, silkier than it is creamy. "The whole eventually melts into an exquisite bitterness tinged with the briny taste of the sea".

ON THE NOSE

The immediate impression is of the mildness of the pure, airy, bright bouquet. A floral, fruity pastel tone then unfolds and quickly darkens into candied fruit, ripe hay and toasted notes, along with hints of licorice.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 2005

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe,

WA - Beautiful, elegant red, blue and black fruits (89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Merlot) as well as some graphite and spice notes jump from the glass of the 2005 Lafite Rothschild. Medium-bodied, with superb purity and texture, this is not a blockbuster by any means, but a meticulously made, lovely-textured Pauillac. Long and pure, this wine should drink well for 25-30 years. There is no danger in pulling the cork on it today. Robert Parker eRobertParker.com 19 Jun 2015

Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 2004

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe,

An excellent 2004 vintage bordeaux wine. Only 39% of production was used for the Grand Vin and with a whopping 90.5% Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend (the balance being 9% Merlot and 0.5% Petit Verdot) the 2004 Lafite needed little introduction. This wine has one of the most exciting noses - intense, spicy, pure cassis and a generous helping of creamy vanilla. The palate is just as exciting, exhibiting terrific concentration and a hint of warm new oak which leads to an intense, linear core of lively blackcurrants and layers of intriguing minerality. The Cabernet was very evident on the finish with the variety's characteristically firm tannins taking over at the end, making this one for the long term.

"The 2004 Meyney has a simple, ripe nose of redcurrant, cranberry and a touch of cigar box. It seems to have more Merlot than other Saint Estephe wines with a nice touch of cassis towards the finish. Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2004

*** 94 Points - In Asia ***
"Deep garnet-black. There’s a wonderful purity of fruit on the nose with aromas of warm blackcurrant, dark cherries, dark chocolate, anise, cinnamon and a waft of cedar. The palate is relatively rich with a medium to full body and a good amount of ripe, mouth-filling fruit. Medium+ level of velvety tannins and medium+ acidity provide nice balance.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2002

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

A vintage 2002 Bordeaux Wine from Château Mouton Rothschild.

*** 93 Points Robert Parker ***

"Dense purple to the rim, this wine exhibits the classic cassis aroma that is so characteristic of Mouton. Medium to full-bodied, tannic, powerful, and cut somewhat from the 1988 mold, this is a backward, chewy, well-endowed Mouton-Rothschild that will require considerable patience from those who purchase it. A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, the wine needs a good decade of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030+." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 2005.

Chateau Cissac, 2001

Medoc, Cru Bourgeois

A 2001 vintage Bordeaux wine. The 2001 has a good rich colour - browning just a little at the rim. This bottle demands patience when opening as it needs time to develop. Good blackcurrant nose. Plum, damson on the palate with balancing blackcurrant acidity. Dusty tannins on the end palate at first but the tannin softened in the glass, even without food.
With food it is excellent. Rich fruit, good acidity, a good partner.
This is the beauty of decent Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux if stored well - it makes demands on the taster (patience and consideration). Not a wine from those who prefer to 'pop and pour' who miss out on most of the quality and character.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 2001

Pauillac, 1st Growth Classification

*** 94 Points - Robert parker ***
*** 96 Points - Neil Martin ***

Reviews:
The 2001 Lafite Rothschild’s deep, saturated plum/purple color is accompanied by lead pencil liqueur-like notes intermixed with sweet red and black currants, plums, and cedar. This blend of 86.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13.5% Merlot is a classic example of Lafite. Extremely elegant, medium-bodied, with intense concentration, richness, and sweet tannin, it appears to be on a rapid evolutionary track, at least in comparison to recent Lafite vintages that have been far more backward and powerful. The classy 2001 should be at its finest between 2007-2020.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2001

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

"Lifted blackberry, autumn leaf, cedar and a touch of fresh tobacco, the mintiness enhanced by continued aeration. The palate is very tight and slightly pinched at the moment, the tannins a little harder and less fine than Lafite, the finish slightly chalky and foursquare in texture. Personally, I prefer the 2002 to the previous year, but it is still a decent, mid-weight Pauillac that would show better with cuisine. Drink 2013-2025. Tasted November 2010."
