D'Oliveiras Madeira, 1994

Verdelho

Madeira is made on the volcanic island of the same name situated in the Atlantic ocean some 400 miles off the North African coast. The sub-tropical island was discovered in 1419 and named for the word for wood or timber.

This sweet, amber-tinged Madeira, has keen acidity and a long and mellow finish, with a certain delicacy.

Dow's Port, 1994

Vintage Port

** 97 Points Lisa perotti Brown - in Asia **
** 96 points Robert Parker **

Reviews
"Deep garnet colour. The nose is just beginning to evolve into musky, dried plum and raisin aromas with whiffs of tree bark, nutmeg, cumin and cloves. The palate is seriously big and voluptuous with medium to high acidity and a medium to firm level of fine tannins. Very long finish." In Asia.

"The massive 1994 is unquestionably the finest Dow I have tasted since the 1977. This opaque purple-colored wine is not as developed or flamboyant as Fonseca, but it is super-concentrated and multi-layered, with huge masses of fruit and some tannin in the finish.

Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port, 1994

Vintage Port

94 Points (outstanding) Wine Journal ***

Reviews: "This has an ethereal nose, nice lift with secondary aromas beginning to come through, with blackberry leaf, dried orange peel, a touch of walnut and honey. Expressive, if a little too open-knit. There is a hint of glue just in the background but it does not get in the way. The palate is very well balance, quite suave with very fine tannins, with subtle hints of cloves, dried herbs and a touch of capsicum with elegant very supple finish. Excellent. Drink now-2035." Taylor's Port, 1994

Vintage Port

Reviews:
100 Points – Wine Spectator
"In a word, superb. It's full-bodied, moderately sweet and incredibly tannic, but there's amazing finesse and refinement to the texture, not to mention fabulous, concentrated aromas of raspberries, violets and other flowers. Perhaps the greatest Taylor ever, it's better than either the '92 or the '70, though it's very like the '70 in structure."

This classically made, opaque purple-coloured wine is crammed with black fruits (blueberries and cassis). It reveals high tannin and a reserved style, but it is enormously constituted with massive body, a formidable mid-palate, and exceptional length.

Tokaji, 1993

Tokaji Aszu Szt. Tamas 1993

Hungary’s most famous dessert wine is Tokaji the legendary sweet elixir. It can only be spoken in the superlative about this wine, as it is a medicine, a real nectar. The name Tokaji (which is of Protected Designation of Origin) is used for labeling wines from this wine district. The location of the region has a unique climate, beneficial to this particular viniculture, due to the protection of the nearby mountains, long warm autumns and mists that come in from the River Bodrog, creating perfect conditions for noble rot. Creating the botrytised ('aszú') grapes for which the region is famous. A wonderful sweet wine from this renowned producer.

Fonseca Port, 1992

Vintage Port

A magnificent port scoring 97 Parker Points.

Reviews "Fonseca has scored in both the 1991 and 1992 vintages. The 1992 is a majestic young port that should ultimately rival, perhaps even surpass this house's most recent great efforts (1985, 1977, 1970, 1963). This colossal vintage port reveals a nearly opaque black/purple color, and an explosive nose of jammy black fruits, licorice, chocolate, and spices. Extremely full-bodied and unctuously-textured, this multi-layered, enormously-endowed port reveals a finish that lasts for over a minute. It is a magnificent port that will age well for 30-40 years.

Baron de Sigognac, 1991

Vintage Armagnac
Comes in Original Sigognac Wooden Box as illustrated

The company behind this Armagnac owns one of the most important stocks of old vintages in the whole region. They are growers as well as distillers and specialise in sourcing and ageing old casks of Armagnac.

This 1991 Armagnac is made from a blend of Baco and Ugni Blanc, the predominant grapes used in the production of Armagnac. The distillation takes place in a column still to an alcohol strength of about 54%. The spirit is then aged in local black oak casks. The alcohol content then reduces naturally to about 40% after about forty years. Presented in a perfectly simple wooden box.

Fracia, 1991

Negri

This red wine is deep crimson in colour, and has a rich bouquet of dried cherries, pencil shavings, tar and roses – the tell-tale sign of a wine made from Nebbiolo. As might be expected for a mountain-grown wine made from Nebbiolo, it is light-bodied and laced with grippy tannins. Although generally weightier and more concentrated than standard Rosso di Valtellina wines, they are almost always lighter in both body and power than the most famous of all Nebbiolo-based wines, Barolo and Barbaresco.

Quinta do Noval Port, 1991

Vintage Port

*** 90-92 Points - Wine Journal ***

Reviews:
"paque deep black colour. The nose is sweet and raisiny, quite fragrant and perfumed. The palate is spicy, peppery, quite "bullish" in a way. The Niepport shows more restraint and balance. Slightly dry on the finish - bit this is still an excellent port that should last another decade at least. Drink now-2020. Tasted June 2004." Neil Martin Wine Journal

Zinfandel, 1991

New

Cellars Delano

Zinfandel is a dark-skinned grape known for producing inky, tannic wines. A classic Zinfandel wine is high in both alcohol and tannins, intensely flavored and deeply colored. A certain bitterness is often found in Zinfandel which, combined with its mouth-puckering tannins, means that it needs a few years in either bottle or barrel.
