Quinta do Noval Port, 2003

Vintage Port

*** 94 Points - eRobert Parker ***

Reviews: "The inky, purple-colored, opaque 2003 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port soars from the glass, revealing dates, black cherries, copious flowers, and plums. Full-bodied, broad, and lush, this top-flight wine is harmonious and exhibits stupendous purity of fruit. Blueberries, cherries, and candied strawberries can be found in its nuanced, lengthy, plum-laced core as well as in its immensely long, dried berry-tinged finish. Drink this beauty between 2020 and 2045+." P Rovani eRobert Parker

Chateau Margaux, 2002

Margaux Premiere Grand Cru Classe

93 Points - Robert Parker
95 Points - Wine Journal

"Performing better from bottle than at any time in cask (which of course is the objective of great winemaking, isn’t it?), this wine reveals a dense ruby/purple color in a style somewhat reminiscent of the 1988 but with more power, concentration, and volume. It has a beautifully elegant nose of black fruits intermixed with truffle, flower, and oak. The wine is medium to full-bodied, dense, with wonderful precision, freshness, and a long, full-bodied finish with impressive levels of concentration. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2030." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 2005

"Very refined on the nose.

Chateau d'Angludet, 2001

Margaux Cru Bourgeois

This wine from the excellent 2001 vintage scores a very good 88 parker points.

"A sleeper of the vintage, this excellent offering possesses a deep ruby/purple color as well as a sweet nose of melted asphalt, cedar wood, black currants, gravel, and tar. There is plenty of well-integrated tannin along with surprising size, richness, and aging potential (particularly for a Cru Bourgeois). " Robert Parker 2004.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 2001

Pauillac, 1st Growth Classification

*** 94 Points - Robert parker ***
*** 96 Points - Neil Martin ***

Reviews:
The 2001 Lafite Rothschild’s deep, saturated plum/purple color is accompanied by lead pencil liqueur-like notes intermixed with sweet red and black currants, plums, and cedar. This blend of 86.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13.5% Merlot is a classic example of Lafite. Extremely elegant, medium-bodied, with intense concentration, richness, and sweet tannin, it appears to be on a rapid evolutionary track, at least in comparison to recent Lafite vintages that have been far more backward and powerful. The classy 2001 should be at its finest between 2007-2020.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2001

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

"Lifted blackberry, autumn leaf, cedar and a touch of fresh tobacco, the mintiness enhanced by continued aeration. The palate is very tight and slightly pinched at the moment, the tannins a little harder and less fine than Lafite, the finish slightly chalky and foursquare in texture. Personally, I prefer the 2002 to the previous year, but it is still a decent, mid-weight Pauillac that would show better with cuisine. Drink 2013-2025. Tasted November 2010." Chateau Quinault l'Enclos, 2001

St Emilion Grand cru

From the excellent 2001 vintage and scoring an outstanding 92/100 Parker points.

Reviews: "This blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc owes much of its extraordinary quality to the impeccable perfectionist efforts of Quinault’s owners, Dr. Alain Raynaud and his wife, Francoise. The 37-acre vineyard, situated within the Libourne city limits, includes some of the appellation’s oldest vines. This wine enjoys all of the state of the art, cutting edge winemaking techniques (i.e., cold fermentation, malolactic in barrel, aging on its lees, and no fining or filtration).

Warre's Port, 2000

Bottle Matured Late Bottle Vintage In Gift Box

The 2000 LBV from Warre's is still made in the traditional way - bottled unfiltered then aged for a number of years before being released only when it is ready. As a result, it is vastly superior to most other LBV Ports, and a brilliant value substitute for full Vintage Port.

The 2000 is full-bodied, rich and sweet; deep, dark fruit flavours; long, elegant finish.
Because it is unfiltered, this LBV should be decanted to leave the sediment behind.

This prolonged bottle ageing is crucial to the development of the superb “nose” and flavour which lend this Port a style and complexity very much akin to that of Vintage Port.

Chateau Haut Brion, 1999

Pessac Leognan 1er Grand Cru Classe

Château Haut-Brion's 1999 comes from a very good Bordeaux vintage for those producers who picked their crop selectively.

The 1999 Haut Brion is intensely aromatic, rich and concentrated. Their wines are consistently viewed as some of the very best in the entire Bordeaux region, including its fellow first growths of the Médoc.

Reviews..

"The Haut-Brion is certainly more expressive on the nose than their neighbours over the road, very good lift with blackberry, cedar, iodine, macerated black cherries, a touch of dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, very well balanced, very elegant with svelte, fine tannins.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 1999

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe,

This first growth reveals a remarkably complex nose with subtle new oak. The palate starts supple but finishes with great intensity. Although delicious now, this top rated wine has the structure to last.

Critical Acclaim
RP95
The Wine Advocate - "The 1999 Lafite Rothschild sports an engraved "1999" on the bottle along with an eclipse to mark that significant historical event of August, 1999. It is a quintessential offering from Lafite Rothschild. This prodigious wine is both elegant and intensely flavored, and almost diaphanous in its layers that unfold with no heaviness. An opaque ruby/purple color is accompanied by a complex bouquet of lead pencil, graphite, cedar, creme de cassis, toast, and vanilla.

Chateau Latour, 1999

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

Many regard Latour as the greatest of Bordeaux's Premier Crus. Their 1999 as been desribed as 'sensational', 'luscious' and 'exciting'. It's beautifully concentrated and impeccably balanced, with just the right amount of chewy tannin and fruit extraction, but with a slightly gentle level of acidity. Gobs of cassis and blackberry compote sit with smoky oak, mineral notes and a whiff of leather. Some regard it as the wine of the vintage, Parker awarded it 93-95 points and Jancis Robinson gave it a very hefty 18/20. Drinking now, until beyond 2030.

Chateau Montrose, 1999

St Estephe 2nd Growth Classification

90 Points (outstanding) Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The black/purple-colored 1999 Montrose offers up notes of pure black fruits intermixed with minerals, smoke, and earth. It is extremely concentrated, surprisingly powerful and dense, with moderate tannin. Its size, strength, and medium to full-bodied personality are atypical for the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2025."

Château Montrose is located in the east of St Estèphe (the northern most of the great Médoc communes), just north of the hamlet of Marbuzet, on a gravel knoll only 800 metres from the Gironde estuary.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 1999

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

*** 93 Points - Robert Parker ***

Reviews:
"The beautiful 1999 Mouton Rothschild may be a modern day clone of their 1962 or 1985. Its saturated ruby/purple color is followed by sumptuous aromas of cedar wood, creme de cassis, wood smoke, coffee, and dried herbs. The wine is forward, lush, and full-bodied. It is already complex as well as succulent, fleshy, and long. Tannin in the finish suggests more nuances will emerge in 4-5 years. It is a complex, classic Mouton. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2030" Parker, Wine Advocate 2005

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 1998

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

*** 96 Parker Points ***

Like many of its peers, the 1998 Mouton has filled out spectacularly. Now in the bottle, this opaque black/purple-colored offering has increased in stature, richness, and size. A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc (57% of the production was utilized), it is an extremely powerful, super-concentrated wine offering notes of roasted espresso, creme de cassis, smoke, new saddle leather, graphite, and licorice. It is massive, with awesome concentration, mouth-searing tannin levels, and a saturated flavor profile that grips the mouth with considerable intensity.

Chateau Yquem, 1998

Sauternes 1er Cru Classe

‘A beautiful, slightly golden yellow, this wine is still very young to express much on the initial nose. After swirling, and even more so after a few minutes in the glass, there come scents of citrus, raisins and also more floral aromas with delicate lime flower. These are still early days and time is needed for these impressions to develop. In the mouth the great quality and potential are obvious. The attack is round, and the volume quickly fills the whole mouth. What sweetness and what pleasure - with just enough acidity. Flavours of mandarin, apricot, fruit paste, then the vanillary, lightly grilled notes associated with the long élevage in barrel.

Dom Perignon, 1998

Champagne Brut

Janis Robinson writes of this wine…. "this cuvée is extraordinarily open and ripe already – it hits the palate with such force it is easy to confuse its ripeness with sweetness but then, in Dom P style, it tightens up immensely and finished with great race and refreshing dryness. The nose initially suggests something headily fragrant – lilies perhaps – but then develops in the glassy to be much meatier and denser. But it took a glass 24 hours to develop the tight-knit, bready autolysis that is characteristic of most Dom Pérignon vintages, which suggests to me that this wine, while being super-welcoming, will also have a very long life ahead of it.
