The wine can stand some aging.

Bahans Haut Brion, 2003

Pessac Leognan the 2nd wine of Ch. Haut Brion

*** 92 Points - Robert Parker ***
The second wine, the 2003 Bahans Haut-Brion (before the name change to Le Clarence) shows complex unsmoked cigar tobacco notes intermixed with burning embers, charcoal, black currant and cherries in a medium-bodied, fleshy, complex and stunning display of fruit, body and richness. The tannins are resolved, the acidity low and the wine gorgeous now. It should continue to drink well for another 5-6 years. There is no reason to defer your gratification with this beauty.

Barros Port, 2003

Vintage Port SINGLE BOTTLE 75cl

Vintage or “bottle-aged” ports must receive approval of the Port Wine Institute to declare a vintage of recognized quality. Then, the entire vintage must be bottled between the second and third year. Since it improves in the bottle, it maintains its red color and red fruit flavors. It often takes 10 or more years to smooth the tannins and develop to its full potential, although, today, many consumers forego the complexities of aging to enjoy the youthful robustness of the port in its younger years when it is still opaque and jammy.

Golden colour with green reflections. Characteristic bouquet of Madeira with exotic wood, dry fruits, dates, vanilla, cacau and finetoasted oak. Medium sweet and full bodied, with a long toffee and vanilla aftertaste.

Blandy’s Colheita Bual 2003 was aged for 12 years in seasoned American oak casks in the traditional ‘Canteiro’ system, wherebythe wine is gently heated by warm air in the lofts of the company’s south-facing lodge in Funchal. Over the years the casks aretransferred from the top floor to the middle floor and eventually to the ground floor where it is cooler. The wine is regularly racked during the ageing process and is finally bottled when the desired balance of maturity is reached.

Chateau La Lagune, 2003

Haut Medoc, 3rd Growth Classification

*** 90 Points - Robert Parker ***

Reviews;" The 2003 and offerings from La Lagune are the finest back-to-back vintages they have produced in over fifteen years. Kudos to the Frey family, who also purchased the Rhone Valley flagship firm of Paul Jaboulet-Aine in 2005. Their daughter, Caroline Frey, is the oenologist at La Lagune. The sexy, up-front, evolved 2003 La Lagune exhibits a dark ruby/purple hue as well as big nose of cedar, spice box, black cherry jam, licorice, and smoke. Savory, broad, ripe, and low in acidity, it is a total hedonistic and intellectual turn-on. Enjoy it now or cellar it for 15+ years.

Chateau Palmer, 2003

*** 90 Points Wine Spectator ***

The 2003 Palmer exhibits an evolved style along with a deep ruby/purple-tinged color, sexy, complex aromatics, and medium body. While it lacks the great depth this estate achieved in the last three vintages, it should be delicious upon release, and age for 15+ years. A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 12% Petit Verdot and made from extremely low yields of 25 hectoliters per hectare, it is a wine of undeniable finesse, fruit, and elegance.

Croft Port, 2003

Vintage Port

A medium intensity Port with a garnet core and mahogany rim. A lovely pronounced nose of figs and prunes, with some walnut characters. Also slightly earthy. Good sweet fruit on the palate and a full mouth feel. This is followed by a long, smooth nutty finish. After a 40-year absence, the 2003 Croft was made by the use of traditional treading in stone Lagers. The 2003 reflects the benefits of two years of strict vineyard management with gloriously pure fruit and scents of wild blueberry and crême de more. The purity and expression of fruit persists on the palate, supported by dense but very svelte tannins, culminating in a long finish.
