Chateau Marquis de Terme, 1996
Margaux, 4th Growth Classification
A very tannic, structured wine with an opaque purple color and a sweet creme de cassis nose intermixed with damp earth, vanilla, and licorice, this relatively massive wine has mouth-searing levels of tannin, medium body, and a very backward style that will require considerable patience from its buyers.

Chateau Potensac, 1996
Medoc
The Chateau Potensac 1996 has plenty of cassis, leaf and cedar to begin with. The wine is fresh and gains in the glass. The fruits have a ripe, creamy edge from the vintage but the wine remains savoury and true. It has ample structure beneath the flesh and is still drinking nicely. A beautiful mature older Medoc.

Chateau Yquem, 1996
Sauternes 1er Cru Classe
Reviews for Chateau Yquem 1996
Compared with the flamboyant aromatics of the 1997, Yquem's 1996 plays it closer to the vest, although there is a lot going on. Light gold with a tight but promising nose of roasted hazelnuts intermixed with creme brulee, vanilla beans, honey, orange marmalade, and peaches, this medium to full-bodied offering reveals loads of power in its restrained, measured personality. There is admirable acidity, weight, texture, and purity in this impeccably made Yquem. However, patience will be a virtue. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2060.
Score: 95+ Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (146), April 2003
This performed brilliantly at the Roberson's vertical, even outclassing the lauded 1997! A moderate golden hue. …

Quinta de la Rosa, 1996
Vintage Port
La Rosa's classic house style achieved by slow maceration in traditional granite 'Lagares' has produced a wine full of luscious forward fruit with a very attractive nose and a long velvety slightly drier finish across the palate
La Rosa is a vertically integrated Quinta rising to 450 metres above sea level, boasting many hidden micro climates within its cirtilage. Where possible we vintage and mature these small 'lotes' separately in order to achieve the maximum complexity in the finished ports, which would not have been possible from a less diversely planted property.

Quinta do Noval Nacional, 1996
Vintage Port
This wine is a mysterious phenomenon, a magical wine produced in extremely limited quantities and only in a few years each decade. It is the expression of a terroir and confirms something that is for me a deeply held belief. The Nacional is great because of the grapes and where they come from, not because of anything particular that we do. It has a unique personality, an extraordinary intensity and, even after many years of ageing, retains an astonishing youthfulness.

Savigny Les Beaune, 1996
Clos des Guettes Domaine Gagey, Louis Jadot
Domaine bottled under the Domaine Gagey name, this wine is from the holdings of Andre Gagey, Managing director of Louis Jadot. Like all of the Jadot domaine bottled wines, it is dense and focused. It expresses very pretty blackberry fruit notes, and lots of ripe, fine tannins. Good deep red. Cherry, liquorice and leather on the nose. Juicy, leanish and penetrating, with firm fruit flavours given clarity by brisk acids. Rather elegantly styled Savigny.

Ryst-Dupeyon Armagnac, 1995
Ryst Dupeyron Reserve Joseph Millesime vintage Armagnac
50cl bottle
The 1995 Dupeyron Armagnac is the expression of a single year and has a unique character associated with the year and the cask in which it has been stored. These vintages are bottled at the alcohol level in which they naturally come out of the cask. There is a wonderful contrast between the sweet and sour flavours of wood, amplified by the strong alcoholic degree. Rich palate feeling the alcohol and the concentration of dry plums, spicy with persistent flavour of rancio and of spices, but round, soft and long in the finish. The tannins are very present, but full-bodied and round.
The Maison Ryst-Dupeyon was founded by Joseph Dupeyron in 1905. …

1995 Burmester Vintage Port
Vintage Port
The 1995 Burmester Vintage Port is an elegant wine with lovely, aromatic fruit on the nose. Hints of black-fruit, cherry, figs and roasted coffee. The Port has a dark core lightening at the edges. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a sleek, racy, long, sweet fruit finish. Outstanding 92/100. VWP tasting 01/20
In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, a cereal trading company. They moved to Vila Nova de Gaia and in 1750 began shipping port wine to the British Isles and the rest of Europe. The family name originates from the German word 'Burgmeester', meaning 'mayor' - as the family came from the small north Germany city of Moelln. …

The 1995 Barbaresco Santo Stefano is the result of an ethereal combination of the ideal terroir with the perfectly-suited Nebbiolo grape. This wine shows all the characteristic elegance of Barbaresco with the complexity and richness for which Santo Stefano is known. The Nebbiolo grapes for this wine are grown in the Albesani sub-appellation inside Barbaresco, in the single vineyard of Santo Stefano, which is owned entirely by Castello di Neive.
This Barbaresco is fully mature with tertiary characteristics of forest floor underscored by notes of cherries, roses, and baking spices. On the palate, it is elegant, with a long spicy finish. …

Vivino review:
It has a dense, even, opaque crimson colour, with a very rich, dark well of black fruit and floral aromas, with all sorts of mineral and delicately spicy nuances. On the palate this has a beautifully focused sweetness, with a supple, svelte quality of black fruits, that is pure and very long and silky through the mid palate. …

Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste, 1994
Pauillac 5th Growth Classification
*** 90 Points - Robert Parker ***
"Grand-Puy-Lacoste is the drinker's Pauillac. It is not an investment wine (having been largely forgotten by the trophy hunters and investors looking to make a quick buck), although certain vintages (1982 and 1990) have tripled in price. Grand-Puy-Lacoste, usually loaded with character and personality, has enjoyed three fine vintages in 1993-95, with each of these years under-priced for such quality. The 1994 has turned out to be an outstanding effort for this estate. The wine reveals even more flesh than it did prior to bottling, as well as the high tannin that marks many of this vintage's wines. …
