Description
1975 Barolo, Succ. A. Camerano
Piedmont, Italy
The 1975 Barolo from Succ. A. Camerano is a striking example of traditional Langhe craftsmanship from one of La Morra’s respected family producers. The Camerano family has long been known for producing classically structured Barolo, aged patiently in large Slavonian oak and bottled only when the wine had reached balance and poise.
In the glass, it displays a transparent garnet hue with orange-brick edges, a hallmark of mature Nebbiolo. The bouquet is deep and evocative, unfolding dried rose, sour cherry, and sweet tobacco, alongside hints of cedar, truffle, and autumnal earth. With air, delicate notes of tea leaf and dried herbs emerge, creating a beautifully layered aromatic profile.
On the palate, the wine is silky and harmonious, with the tannins fully resolved and the acidity still bright, sustaining flavours of dried red fruit, balsamic spice, and forest floor. The finish is long, savoury, and gently fading, leaving a memory of rose petal and old oak.
The 1975 vintage in Barolo produced wines of structure and charm, marked by balance rather than power. This bottling from Camerano captures that character perfectly — an eloquent and quietly profound expression of mature Nebbiolo, offering both historical significance and a glimpse into Piedmont’s artisanal heritage.
