Description
This 2009 sweet white wine from Barsac in Sauternes is made from Semillon grapes.
Tasting Notes Magnificent. Deep gold colour and with air rich open nose of lanolin, candle wax, dried orange peel, citrus fruits, crisp apples, floral notes of rose, dried tubers, dried faded potpourri over zesty bright pineapple. Good level of acidity balances the sweetness beautifully. Medium weight complete and wonderfully balanced.

Established in the 13th century and classified as a Premier Cru Classé in 1855, it is one of the oldest and most esteemed vineyards in the Sauternes and Barsac regions. The 38.5-hectare vineyard benefits from a unique clay and limestone terroir ideal for growing Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes. The estate, managed by the Baly family since 1977, employs meticulous hand-harvesting and traditional winemaking techniques to create its renowned wines, including the flagship Château Coutet and the second wine, Chartreuse de Coutet. Known for their rich, complex flavors and remarkable aging potential, Château Coutet wines are celebrated for their balance of sweetness and acidity, making them a staple of Bordeaux's prestigious wine offerings.
