Description
1965 Chianti — Santa Cristina (Antinori)
A rare slice of Tuscan history from one of Italy’s most storied families. This 1965 Santa Cristina Chianti channels classic, old-school Sangiovese charm—savory, floral, and beautifully evolved after six decades in bottle.
Tasting profile — savoury, floral, refined
Brick-garnet with an orange rim. Aromas of dried cherry, rose petal, orange peel, and cedar glide into leather, tobacco leaf, tea leaf, and a gentle balsamic lift. Medium-bodied and elegant on the palate with resolved tannins, lively acidity, and a long, subtly earthy finish. (As with any mature bottle, natural bottle variation applies.)
Serve with care — gentle handling
Stand upright for 24–48 hours to settle sediment. Ease the cork out slowly (Ah-So/Durand recommended). Decant lightly for 15–20 minutes, just to remove the deposit—over-aeration can mute delicate aromas. Serve at 16–18 °C in Burgundy stems.
Pairing ideas — Tuscan at heart
Perfect with pappardelle al ragù, porcini risotto, roast chicken with herbs, grilled lamb cutlets, or aged Pecorino Toscano. For something simple: good bread, olive oil, and shards of Parmigiano-Reggiano.
A meaningful 60-year milestone
An inspired choice for 60th celebrations in 2025—birthdays, anniversaries, or a collector’s dinner. The Antinori name and Santa Cristina label add provenance and story, making this a memorable, gift-worthy Chianti.
