Description
1987 Chianti – Vecchia Cantina (Tuscany, Italy)
A graceful, fully mature Chianti showing classic tertiary Sangiovese charm. Brick-garnet with a tawny rim, the bouquet lifts with dried cherry and amarena, rose petal, cedar and sweet tobacco, with hints of orange peel, tea leaf and a gentle balsamic note. The palate is mid-weight and savoury: lively, old-school acidity carries red-cherry fruit, dried herbs and subtle leather; tannins are fine and resolved. The finish is silky and tapering with cherry skin, cedar spice and dried flowers.
Quietly classical dinner-table Chianti—perfumed, nuanced and ready to pour.
Serve: 16–18 °C. Stand upright 12–24 hours; very gentle decant for sediment just before pouring.
Food pairing: Roast chicken with herbs, porcini risotto, pappa al pomodoro, pecorino stagionato.
