  • Description

The 1995 Taylor’s Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port is a remarkable single-estate offering from one of Portugal’s most prestigious port houses. Sourced exclusively from the renowned Quinta de Vargellas vineyard in the Douro Valley, this vintage embodies Taylor Fladgate’s commitment to excellence. Known for its deep structure and rich flavors, it has been a standout among single-quinta vintage ports.

Upon release, this vintage was praised for its deep magenta hue and expressive aromas of ripe plums, berries, and floral notes. The palate was full-bodied, delivering intense flavors of black fruits, licorice, and dark chocolate, all supported by firm yet refined tannins. Critics described it as luxurious and powerful, with the promise of exceptional aging potential.

Now, after nearly three decades of maturation, the 1995 Quinta de Vargellas has evolved beautifully, developing sophisticated layers of tobacco, cedar, and dried fruit while maintaining its richness and structure. It remains an excellent choice for collectors and enthusiasts, offering a rewarding drinking experience with impressive longevity.

" Opaque black/purple colour. Big, soaring, hot, blackberry nose. Beautifully sweet and pure fruit on the palate, no sign of "stewed" quality. The wine is all cream and dense, sweet, sweet chocolaty fruit quickly swallowed by smooth but gripping tannins. This is lovely and shows great potential." - Tasted 1998
