Dirk Niepoort has created this second style of vintage port called “Secundum Vintage”. The Secundum’s intention is to provide an approachable Vintage that offers immediate satisfaction yet is well-balanced enough to age for decades. So it is not a second wine, but instead an alternative, slightly more affordable bottling for Niepoort fans who can’t afford or obtain the regular Vintage Port. It’s a proper Vintage Port, but from wines considered not classic enough to be a Vintage Niepoort. The 2000 vintage has a slightly sweet herbal edge to the nose. 'Nacional' Vintage Port, Douro

Quinta do Noval Nacional is a Vintage Port produced only in selected years from a small area at the heart of the Quinta do Noval vineyard planted with ungrafted vines and untouched by phylloxera. 2000 was a widely declared vintage and produced wines of immense concentration. Though not as flamboyant as the similarly warm 2003 vintage, this has excellent staying power and should continue to improve over time.

Quinta de La Rosa is a small estate in the heart of the Port wine-growing region in Alto Douro, near Pinhao, owned and operated by the Bergqvist family.

Colheita Port, Douro

Having spent at least 7 years in cask this 1997 colheita port from JW Hart is essentially a tawny port with a vintage date. This luscious port offers wonderful dried fig, sultanas, Crème brûlée and walnut aromas and flavours, with soft mouthfeel and a high acidity balancing beautifully the port's sweetness.
