D'Oliveiras Madeira, 1992
Malvasia
A rich, velvety smooth Malvazia with sweet caramel, chocolate orange and malted chocolate notes. Well judged balancing acidity teases out the finish and keeps the sweetness in check.
* Review by Sarah Ahmed- www.thewinedetective.co.uk *
Try this luscious sweet and full-bodied Madeira with stewed meat dishes with sweet and spicy elements. It pars marvellously with intense and rich dark chocolate as well as nutty and caramel desserts. Why not serve at the very end of the meal with a blue cheese such as stilton or Roquefort. Finally, a Malvasia is also delicious with cigars.

Blauburgunder, 1991
Kametz - Riserva
Blauburgunder (Pinot Noir) Riserva 1991 Kametz is a historic red wine from Alto Adige (South Tyrol), Italy, produced by the winery Kametz. “Blauburgunder” is the traditional German name for Pinot Noir in this alpine region, where cooler mountain climates allow for slow ripening and wines with finesse, acidity, and long aging potential. The 1991 Riserva represents a mature expression of early 1990s Alto Adige Pinot Noir, a period when the region was increasingly refining its focus on quality and terroir-driven winemaking.
This style is typically characterized by restrained extraction, careful aging, and an emphasis on elegance rather than power, especially in reserve-level bottlings intended for longer bottle evolution. …

"The 1989 Vieux Château Certan has long been one of my favorite wines of that decade. The bouquet shows no signs of relinquishing that title with gorgeous black truffle, bay leaf, warm gravel and briary scents that are simply beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity, "warm earth" on the entry, leather and truffle, great depth here with sublime precision on the finish, which is bridled with hints of mushroom and cloves. Maybe this is reaching its peak? Then again, it shows absolutely no signs of reaching the end of its plateau. …
