1990 was the first official year of Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port. Quinta do Vesuvio is arguably the most magnificent estate in the Douro valley.
"Light rose in colour; 30% opaque. Soft rose perfume on the nose, a little harsh and with a hint of bake. Hollow entry but some burnt sugar and a little red apple comes though on the mid-palate; dry and slightly bitter at the core. Big and flavoursome on the late palate, flavours which lead to red cinnamon and an aniseed finish that drops off quite rapidly. 84/100. Drunk 13-Feb-19. Decanted 1½ hours." Wine Makers Notes: This was fortunate as the weather throughout the summer was very dry and the months of July and August were particularly hot.

The 1989 Barolo Cantine Prandi have come from the producer's cellars where they laid undisturbed since bottling.

Cantine Prandi was established in the 1920s when grandfather Farinetti Majorino envisioned selling part of the wine produced for family use to the commercial market. In the 1960's his nephew Giovanni came to lend a hand and was instrumental in shaping the winery and its future development. Up to 2009, Giovanni's son Alessandro looked after the beautiful vineyards situated in the long hills surrounding Piemonte. In recent years, due to Alessandro's passing, the winery ceased production.

This single vineyard 1987 vintage Port from Kopke has a medium garnet colour. Excellent bouquet of red fruit and candy floss. Sweet with good balancing acidity, with notes of caramel and a long finish. Bright red colour with a golden rim. A rich and aromatic nose made up of dried fruit, hazelnut and walnut, well combined with hints of spice. In the mouth, intense, smooth and delicious flavours of dried fruit are offset by a fresh note of candied orange peel. Good structure, fine balance and remarkable acidity.
