D'Oliveiras Madeira, 1968
Boal Madeira
*** 93 Points - Robert Parker ***
"The 1968 D’Oliveiras Reserva Boal is a medium-bodied, elegant wine that features high-toned aromas and flavours, with subtle notes of smoke and tar adding complexity. This is an unusually understated showing for the 1968 Boal." The Wine Advocate
D'Oliveiras 1968 is a Madeira wine of a single year. It aged during 30 years, through the method "gradual drying", which gives the wine aromas and unique flavours, with a great longevity. It features a topaz colour with golden and greenish reflexes. Intense and complex bouquet, with a long and refreshing finish. …

Messias Port, 1968
Colheita Port (includes leather effect gift box with silk liner).
The Messias colheita port from the good 1968 vintage has been aged in a barrel until bottling in 2014.
The extended barrel ageing has given this wine a complex fusion of dried fruit and cedar notes. On the palate the wine is smooth and full bodies with plenty nuts and sweet fruit on the palate, fine balance. A tremendous finish which goes on forever. There's no question about the quality on display here.

Nebbiolo D'Alba, 1968
Damilano G.
The Nebbiolo d'Alba has a lovely earthy bouquet. The nose has cherries, dark cherries, tar and slight dried rose notes. Complex and layered. Nice acidity. Medium tannins still present. Cherries on the palate too. Nice finish. Great food wine. Nebbiolo is a fickle grape famed as much for its pale appearance as for its tannic character and produces some of the most perfumed and richly flavoured wines. Though generally only medium-bodied, the wines possess rose and anise scented aromatics and deep flavors of cherry, orange peel and subtle green herb tones.

Rivesaltes, 1968
Chateau Rombeau Vin Doux Natural
80-120 g/l residual sugar usually, vinified at the domaine, which doubles as a very good Catalan restaurant, or cave auberge, in Rivesaltes village itself.
Deep ruby/tawny. Raisiny and lots of acidity. A little gritty. Rancio after long, warm wood-ageing of a blend of Grenache of all three colours. There may also be a little Muscat Alexandre in blends this ‘young’.

*** 95 pts Robert Parker ****
Rich caramel aromatics lead into a wonderful blend of dried fig, apricot and citrus flavors enriched by cashews and almonds, ending in a memorable finish. Robert Parker

Reviews:
93 Points Roy Hersch: "There is a first time for everything. This gentle giant is one of the very best of the Ports I have had from the lackluster 1967 vintage, which managed to produce a few very well-made VPs. The Sandeman is still in great shape. Due to the lighting it is impossible to tell the color. The aromatics dance out of the glass with ultra-potent, sweet violet and floral notes with a hint of mocha. …

Barolo, 1967
Bersano - Riserva Speciale
Barolo lies just south-west of Alba in Italy's north-western Piedmont region. It is considered one of the finest and longest-lived wines, often referred to as 'the king of wines and the wine of kings'. Wine production is strictly limited to the vineyards located on steep hills around the towns of Barolo, La Morra, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba and Monforte d'Alba, Despite the different characteristics of these wines due to the varied terroir, they do display similar traits. These include a garnet color, powerful structure, firm tannins and high levels of acidity and alcohol, with the capacity to age for many years. …

Barolo, 1967
Franco Fiorina
Barolo is known as the 'king of wines' and is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Heady aromas of rose, leather, vanilla, cherry, pepper, cranberry, strawberry. Fruits are perfectly knitted with the tannins and acidity. It's a powerful wine but remarkably subtle. Don't underestimate it and certainly serve it with food to show at it's best. Nebbiolo has naturally high tannins and acidity, so it will take on full-flavoured, rich foods no problem at all.

Barolo, 1967
Calissano - Riserva Speciale
This wine shows the magic of an aged Barolo. It starts with a beautiful Piedmontese nose of chocolate, damp wood, soy sauce and spice surrounded by deep, slightly heady aromas of dried dates, cherries and figs, all wreathed by classic notes of rose and tar. The palate is still just about right - still bright with acidity, but with tannins that had softened out, it showed lovely earthy flavours specked with wood spice, smoky tar and flowers floating around a delicious mouthful of sour cherries as the wine moved into a nice fresh finish that ended with a touch of savoury earth and soy notes ringed with a little halo of rose petals. …

The 1967 Chateau Margaux has been fully mature for more than two decades. Sauternes 1er Grand cru Classe
Torn label | Vintage Legible | very top shoulder
*** 96 Points Robert Parker ***
Reviews
"Based solely on the strength of what is unquestionably a great Yquem, many have concluded that 1967 was a superb vintage for Sauternes. The truth is that 1967 was a very good but irregular vintage. As for Yquem, it is close to perfection. Medium amber/golden with a full intensity bouquet of vanillin spice, honey, ripe pineapples, and coconut, this intense, very ripe, unctuous Yquem has layers of sweet, opulent fruit, excellent balance, and a hefty, powerful finish. Almost too big and rich to be served with food, this wine should be drunk alone as a dessert. …
