Giovanni Rosso - Serralunga

Winemaking
Harvest time: middle of October.
The fermentation lasts some 25 days according to the vintage with daily pumping over of the wine mass with délestages at half of the period (fermentation in concrete tanks).
The aging is conducted in 50hl large barrels of Fontainebleau Forest oak (from 18 to 36 months according to the vintage and the vineyard of provenience)

Perfumes: dark in tones, cocoa and chocolate hints, ripen raspberry, plums and peppery hints.
Taste: savoury and juicy; delicious tannins and soft in the mid-palate.

This 2016 Gigi Rosso Barolo Barolo comes from Trecomuni, which is a Cantina Gigi Rosso registered trademark. According to the ancient Piedmontese tradition, in order to obtain a perfect Barolo, one has to source grapes from three different terroir. The Helvetian soil of Serralunga or Monforte will contribute character and longevity, the mixed soil of Barolo, Castiglione or Novello will bring finesse and elegance and finally the Tortonian soil of La Morra or Verduno will deliver fruit and freshness. From the union of three “Communes” this Barolo was born, thus combining all great features of different Barolo terroir soil types.
