Massandra, 1939
Masandra White Muscat Sothebys Massandra Collection (Includes Original Box as illustrated)
Sothebys Massandra Collection
The wineries in Massandra were built during the reign of Czar Nicholas II. During the process, wine caves containing thousands of bottles were constructed beneath the city. This “personal wine cellar” of the Czar contained tens of thousands of bottles. These caves survived the Russian Revolution, both World Wars, the fall of Communism, and Yakov Smirnoff. In 1990, about 13,000 of these bottles – never before available in the West – were put to auction

Henri de Villamont "Collection du Docteur Barolet"
Chambolle-Musigny is a tiny commune in the Côte de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy. The village produces almost exclusively red wines from Pinot Noir. The classic Chambolle-Musigny wine is powerful, yet refined and perfumed. Along with Vosne-Romanée and Gevrey-Chambertin, the village is considered to produce some of the finest Pinot Noir wines on earth.
The producer known as Henri de Villamont takes its name from the Chevalier, or Lord, of Villamont, a crusader who retired to the village of Savigny, where Villamont's cellars are located. (The cellars were built by Léonce Bocquet, then the owner of Clos de Veugeot, in 1880. …

Niepoort Port, 1937
Colheita Port
"A green rim with a tawny core, sediment too. A deep, spicy nose shows dried spice and fleshy tamarind. In the mouth, it’s very concentrated, spicy and lively, with liquorice and darker treacle toffee notes. There’s a trace of bitterness to its slightly spirity finish, but it’s deliciously spicy with plenty of vigour." Sarah Amhed, The Wine Detective
An independent family business since 1842, through five generations. With the position of "niche player", Niepoort's mission is to maintain the production of distinctive ports and Douro wines, combining centuries-old tradition with innovation. …

Baron de Sigognac, 1935
Vintage Armagnac
Heir of many centuries of savoir-faire and tradition: the Sigognac house is one of the oldest one of Armagnac.
In Armagnac, legend has it that, one day long ago,
Baron de Sigognac took all the traditional clocks
out of his cellars.
Fascinated by the mystery surrounding
the way Armagnac ages so well,
he had some very strange timepieces made.
On these clocks, the face had ten divisions instead of twelve.
The seconds had become years, the big hand moved only once a decade and the hour hand marked the centuries.
Baron de Sigognac had found the core of the mystery of Armagnac ageing : time and patience…
The legend adds that, …

Vintage Port - in neck
The Croft 1935 has a noticeably deep mahogany hue with light amber rim. This is the oldest Croft with vestige of fruit lingering on the nose with hints of macerated red cherry, figs, balsam and liquorice. Complex and compelling, with very good lift. The palate is simply outstanding with immense depth and complexity, beautiful sense of natural balance and harmony with spice, Manuka honey and dates. Long, seductive and irresistible, it is difficult to image exactly how port can be much better than this imperious Croft ’35. Brilliant.
