Prats and Symington, 2016

Prazo de Roriz

This 2016 Prazo de Roriz red wine is from the famous joint venture of the Symington family with Bruno Prats of Bordeaux. Such a vivid purple colour, but immediately more refined, less fruitcakey and plummy than the Altano before it, more cedar and incense fragrance and lovely balance and finesse, lightness. Juicy and long, with elegant and fine tannins and fresher acidity.

The Prazo de Roriz is characterized in particular by red fruits, raspberries and cherries and the Roriz terroir provides a distinctive minerality and appealing peppery spice. Made for drinking young, but with the potential for developing in-bottle for several years.

Sassicaia, 2015

Tenuta San Guido

BEST WINE IN THE WORLD 2018

Parker : 97 / 100
J. Suckling : 98 / 100
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Having followed this wine's evolution in barrel for the past few years, it is an honor to evaluate the final product. This Sassicaia has blossomed since my previous encounters with it as a young, awkward adolescent. The long-awaited 2015 Bolgheri Sassicaia represents a tremendous effort that comes together with seamless precision and focus. This is a confident and proud red wine from Tuscany. Starting with the primary material at hand, you sense the quality of fruit thanks to the wine's beautifully dark appearance and the rich texture it offers to the palate.

Taylor's Port, 2015

Late Bottled Vintage Port

The Taylors 2015 LBV has a deep ruby-black core and narrow red rim with purple highlights. The intense and youthful nose displays very fine, complex red and black berry fruit aromas. Ripe strawberry notes and discreet leafy, herbal scents are suffused in a powerful redolence of dark brambly woodland fruit and blackcurrant jam. As is typical of Taylor’s, the nose is beautifully delineated with very fine, focused fruit.

The palate has impressive density and vigour, with thick, mouth filling tannins providing both structure and body. Luscious berry fruit flavours linger into the long finish. As usual, this LBV shares the pedigree of the great Taylor vintage ports but is made in an approachable style, ready for drinking now by the glass.

Ramos Pinto, 2014

Late Bottled Vintage Port presented in wooden box

The 2014 Ramos Pinto Late Bottled Vintage Port is unfiltered and comes from one single year and one single harvest. Whereas its richer cousin, the Vintage, is bottled in the second year, this wine is bottled in the fourth year. Smoother than the Vintage, more developed and easier to drink. It is a powerful, defiant, full-bodied and harmonious wine. It is a wine familiar with the flavours of chocolate and cheese. After the bottle is opened it remains at its best for a further 15 to 30 days, if properly stored. It is a wine that is not filtered and can therefore either be drunk immediately or be left forgotten in a cellar, developing further complexity.

Chateau Giscours, 2012

Margaux, 3rd Growth Classification

Reviews for the 2012 Chateau Giscours

The plump, rich and densely purple-colored 2012 Giscours, has turned out very well in this vintage, offering loads of fruit. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it has a moderate finish, and is medium to full-bodied, with excellent licorice and crème de cassis notes, and a broad, round, juicy mouthfeel. This is a wine that can be drunk young or cellared for 12-15 years. Drink: 2015 - 2030.
Score: 90 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (218), April 2015

This deep, dark ruby-colored effort reveals developed and forward notes of licorice, roasted herbs, sweet black currants, incense and a touch of smoky barbecue/oaky characteristics.

Churchill's Port, 2011

Vintage Port

2011 has been widely declared a vintage year with quality levels hailed as exceptional across the board. Johnny Graham's Churchill's 2011, from Quinta da Grincha on the south bank of the Douro, is classic in style and has decades of ageing potential. The complexity and character of the wine is extraordinary and despite being made in very small quantities it is hard to think of any other wine producing region that can offer anything of comparable value. The Churchill's 2011 shone at a recent tasting of all the major ports and at this En Primeur price, it is a bargain. Drink 2020 – 2035+.

The wine will be shipped to the UK in time for Christmas this year.

Vintage Port HALF BOTTLE 37.5cl

This 2011 Vintage Port Wine from Croft comes from the near perfect viticultural conditions in the Douro Valley and Croft's highly regarded Quinta da Roêda during 2011. This Quinta always forms the core around which Croft craft their Vintage Port blend, yet in this excellent year all of the blend's components have been sourced from here, producing a scented, exotic and lusciously opulent style. In the words of wine-maker David guimareans, the high perfomance of Quinta da Roêda gave this vintage 'an additional layer of density and depth of flavour' with silky, integrated tannins and powerful grip on the finish.

Messias Port, 2010

10 Year Old White Port

A fairly rare style of port, the 10 years old white is characterised by skin contact and oxidative maturation. It is made in the same way as aged tawnies, with slow aging in pipes in the Messias lodges. The white grapes undergo a long period of skin maceration and are foot trodden. Following the addition of grape brandy, the White Port spends a year in large oak vats, followed by ageing in traditional oak pipes for a period of between 7 and 15 years.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 2009

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe,

*** 99+ Points Robert Parker ***

Reviews:
The main reason the 2009 Lafite Rothschild did not receive a perfect score is because the wine has closed down slightly, but it is unquestionably another profound Lafite, their greatest wine since the amazing 2003. Among the most powerful Lafites ever made (it came in at 13.59% alcohol), the final blend was 82.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot. The selection was incredibly severe with only 45% of the crop being utilized. A tight, but potentially gorgeous nose of graphite, black currants, licorice and camphor is followed by a full-bodied wine revealing the classic elegance, purity and delineated style of Lafite.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2009

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

The wine has a very deep, almost black colour. The stylish and complex nose displays aromas of bilberry, blackcurrant and blonde tobacco that mingle with subtle cedarwood and spice notes. The same refinement and density are to be found on the palate with patrician, well-rounded tannins, revealing remarkable structure and balance right through to the long and opulent finish. A great success for a Mouton Rothschild that will undoubtedly get the utmost out of the exceptional qualities for which the 2009 vintage has already been hailed.

Tasting notes
The Wine Advocate - "The 2009 Mouton Rothschild has a striking label from Anish Kapoor.

Chateau Cos d'Estournel, 2008

St Estephe, 2eme Cru Classe (Half Bottle 37.5cl)

The 2008 Cos d'Estournel is inky/purple-hued and is still very young most likely to improve even further as the wine came out of malolactic fermentation very late. It reveals exceptionally precise, fresh aromas of black fruits, crushed rocks, licorice, flowers, and subtle smoke. Dense and high in tannin, the extraordinary richness of polyphenols has given the wine power, substance, and depth, but the sweetness of the tannin and the seemingly low acidity, even though the wine tastes remarkably fresh and the pH is only 3.57 (compared to pH’s close to 4 when the fruit is this ripe), has given the wine a precision and elegance that is remarkable.

Graham's Port, 2007

Vintage Port HALF BOTTLE 37.5cl

97 Points Wine Advocate
Reviews: "A candidate for wine of the vintage, the 2007 Graham’s Vintage Port is complete in every way. Opaque purple-colored, it offers up an ethereal perfume of smoke, mineral, Asian spices, incense, an amalgam of ripe black fruits, and a hint of chocolate in the background. This leads to a dense, super-rich, plush, opulent wine that hides its structure under all the fruit. Vibrant, impeccably balanced, and exceptionally lengthy, it will easily age for another 25-30 years in the cellar and drink well through 2050, probably longer. It is a tour de force."
