Bodegas Toro Albaia Don PX Convento Seleccion, Montilla
In own case with tasting vial.

100 Points - Wine advocate
Reviews:
The 1946 Don PX Convento Seleccion produced with Pedro Ximenez grapes dehydrated under the sun at the time of the Second World War, was only bottled in September 2011. This is an extreme wine, my first descriptor was ultra-mega-super concentrated. It is unbelievably powerful, both in the nose and the palate, full of umami, with sweet cinnamon, Christmas cake, camphor, petrol, lemongrass, Belgian chocolate and butter. Incredibly complex and rich, sweet, balanced and smooth in the palate, it is both very sweet and somehow salty, and with time it develops a black olive note.

Richebourg, 1945

Grand Cru, Vosne-Romanée

Richebourg is one of the six grand cru sites in the hallowed village of Vosne-Romanée, in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. It is one of the larger sites in the village, and is famous for its full-bodied, muscular style of Pinot Noir. Richebourg wines are in fact some of the most opulent from Vosne-Romanée, exhibiting earthy characters along with dense fruit, and they are capable of being cellared for many years.

Chateau Latour, 1944

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

Established around 1680, the Chateau Latour estate is one of the oldest of the Medoc. At the heart of the estate, the principal parcel named "L'Enclos" is 47 hectares of the oldest vines that are preciously maintained because only they are able to give birth to the "Grand Vin". The wine of Chateau Latour is an example of consistent excellence, no matter the vintage. Firm, tannic and concentrated in its youth, it needs a long cellaring to reveal all of its profoundness, strength and extraordinary richness. At perfect maturity, the wine distinguishes itself by an incredible bouquet of black currant, hazelnut and leather.

Graham's Port, 1942

Sale

Vintage Port
Clearance | Low Shoulder | Good label | Was £1195 | Now £350

Declared by some shippers, despite the war, and in some cases declared and bottled in 1945 to celebrate Victory. First Vintage to be bottled exclusively in Portugal, rather than shipped in cask as was customary.

Little known, and production was small due to continued post-war restrictions, but well-cellared wines are still a pleasure.

Taylor's Port, 1855

Scion - Very Old Vintage Port

In 2008 Taylor’s wine maker David Guimaraens became aware of the existence of a very old and rare cask-aged port dating from before the arrival of Phylloxera in the Douro Valley. The wine belonged to a distinguished Douro family and was stored in a lodge in the village of Prezegueda in the Corgo Valley. A treasured heirloom, passed down from one generation to the next, it was maintained as a private family reserve, with the exception of one pipe said to have been acquired by Winston Churchill. In 2009 the sole surviving direct descendant of the family died, leaving no children. Her heirs, not all family members,

Armagnac

Hors d'Age, de Malliac
In original wooden case with the producer's original wax seal

An Hors d'age Armagnac is a blend of various exceptional vintages which, collectively, are more than 10 years old.

This blend shows the heart of the Armagnac aromas with a palette of candied fruits (prune, apricot, orange peel) associated with mellow aromas of wood. Sometimes patisserie notes and spices add tasty indulgence to the whole. A touch of rancio and dried fruits confirm the maturity of the blend. In the mouth it is balanced with good length and a controlled heat.

It is an eau-de-vie for pleasure that can be tasted during a meal with a dessert, one that can be shared with friends
