Bolivar, 1824

Amontillado Viejisimo, Domecq

The House of Domecq has spent almost three centuries pleasing sherry-drinkers of every stripe, including the royalty of Spain and England. They have also grown, eventually becoming part of the enormous corporate tapestry that is Allied Domecq, which owns a diverse range of wine and spirit producers.

This Amontillado captures vestigial freshness from the flor yeast, which has been allowed to die, in return adding colour, texture and complex malty hazelnut flavours to an unnervingly complex ensemble.

RT Madeira, 1789

Vintage Madeira

Provenance from Christies.

Some early 19th century bottles are found branded Rufino Teixeira and this is relative to the RT on this bottle. Teixeira is an old Madeira family, Tristão Vaz Teixeira being one of the first to discover the Island in the 15th century (in 1419, 600 years ago!)

In January 2019 we received the following email.
"Regarding the bottle of Madeira Wine "RT 1789" on sale, would like to inform you as follows;
The wine is Sercial and the bottle was painted by my grandfather, which was a Madeira Wine exporter around the year 1910.
The RT wine comes from my great-great-grandfather and RT means "Rufino Teixeira".

Messias Ruby &Tawny Port Duo

Ruby & Tawny Port presented in a double dark mocha silk-lined gift box as illustrated.

Caves Messias is a historic family owned company that produced high quality port since 1926. Under their care and attention they have become renown for the quality of their colheitas and vintage ports at a competitive price.

Reviews & Tasting Notes:

Messias Ruby Port
Dark ruby colour. Aromas of ripe red fruits and floral notes. It is delicate, with balanced sweetness and pleasant finish.
These full bodied, fruity red ports are the ideal partner for a cheeseboard, chocolate dessert or even an intense Port wine reduction. Full flavoured cheeses such as a good farmhouse Cheddar or Red Leicester would harmoniously accompany this port style.

Palmer Port, Non Vintage

Palmer Cask 150 | 150 Year Old Tawny Port

What happened in 1867? It was the time of Romanticism and the invention of dynamite; of the visionary novels of Jules Verne and of the first telegraphic connection between Portugal and England; but also of the appearance of phylloxera in Europe. While all this was happening, a port wine was ageing calmly in the cellars of the Douro.

Palmer Cask 150 is the survivor of a time of change, invention and plagues. His real story is printed in gold on the glass of the bottle, in direct contact with the wine. While its label tells the story known by all, the one of its time, it also conceals part of that memory.

Champagne Henriot, Non Vintage

Brut Souverain Presented in a leather Effect Gift Box.

Symbol of the precise and elegant style of Champagne Henriot’s wines. Brut Souverain appeals with its nose of white flower and citrus fruit notes. A lively, fresh and balanced attack, with pastry, spice (vanilla) and fruity (morello cherry, candied plum) flavours. A clean and refreshing finish with great length and persistence.

Chianti, Non Vintage

Fonterutoli Chianti 2018 / Gran Selezione 2017 Two Bottle gift PAck

Chianti, situated in Tuscany in central Italy, is home to probably the best-known and most iconic of all Italian wines.
The area’s most highly regarded wines come from the Chianti Classico zone which is the heartland of the Chianti wine region – its traditional and longest-established vinicultural area. This fame is due not just to the high quality of the wines, but also to the classico zone's iconic Tuscan landscape and wine making traditions. This Chianti is characterised by its red and black cherry character, intermingled with notes of wild herbs, mint and spice, supported by a racy acidity and mellow tannins.

Cockburn's Quinta dos Canais is a traditional, terraced Upper Douro quinta that has been producing superior wines for over 100 years. The plantings here face south, and therefore benefit from long hours of sunlight. Under the regional classification system, the vineyard has been awarded the highest possible rating.

Cognac Bisquit Dubouche, Non Vintage

Champagne Napoleon Cognac

An old release of Bisquite Cognac with an average age of 20 years. Bisquit is produced in Jarnac, in the Petite Champagne region of Cognac. We estimate that this was bottled during the 1960s.
Legend has it that Napoleon took crates of Courvoisier Cognac into exile with him to the island of St Helena, and the crew coined the Cognac as "Napoleon's Cognac".

Tasting Notes
Elegant copper highlights, a lingering bouquet, and a powerful, round flavour make this a very distinguished cognac. The oaky characteristics and candied fruit flavours coat the palate after the first sip.

A wonderful cognac to enjoy as a digestif at the end of a meal.

Cognac Des Tuileries, Non Vintage

Grande Champagne Reserve Cognac (75cl)

A good Cognac is subjected to a complex manufacturing process. It is never made from the eau-de-vie of a single cru, but from a `marriage' of eaux-de-vie that vary in age and cru - some as old as a hundred. To establish the age of a Cognac, only the number of years spent in oak casks or barrels are taken into account. As soon as an eau-de-vie is decanted into a glass recipient, it ceases to age. The longer it is left to age, the more a Cognac gains in complexity, fragrance, aromas and taste (spiced, pepper and cinnamon flavours).

Alcoholic Strength by volumes 35° Gay Lussac. Fully matured in wood before bottling.

Messias Port

White Sweet Port
Special Offer | Was £14.95 | Now £13.95

White port, made from a blend of local white Portuguese grapes is a little less intense than a tawny or a ruby and is one of the great summer sun-downers, simpler than fino sherry but just as refreshing!

This sweet white port from Messias has a lovely golden colour in the glass and a slight citrus aroma with a hint of wood. Fine and well balanced it is a superb after dinner drink, aperitif or, like they do in Portugal, mix in equal parts to tonic and garnish with a slice of lemon - a refreshing change to G&T.

Messias Port comes from the family owned Portuguese company founded in 1926.
