Barolo, 1962
Bersano - Riserva Speciale
Barolo is known as the 'king of wines' and is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Heady aromas of rose, leather, vanilla, cherry, pepper, cranberry, strawberry. Fruits are perfectly knitted with the tannins and acidity. It's a powerful wine but remarkably subtle. Don't underestimate it and certainly serve it with food to show at it's best. Nebbiolo has naturally high tannins and acidity, so it will take on full-flavoured, rich foods no problem at all.

Vintage Port - HIGH SHOULDER
This 1960 Cockburn Port is quite a full-bodied, rich, alcoholic, spirited vintage port that offers meaty, chocolatey, spicy, full-bodied, alcoholic flavours. "A light tawny colour, almost a medium rose, with very slow legs. The nose smelt of marzipan, rosewater and aniseed. A medium bodied taste of ripe dates with a dash of spirit and a fantail finish lasting a good while. This grand port was alive and delivering pleasure. Thank you Cockburn's for the treat. 89/100 (Nicos Neocleous, UK)" UK Wine Forum.

Spanna, 1957
F.lli Berteletti - Riserva
Spanna has often been cited by wine experts as one of Italy’s greatest ageing wines. Spanna’s longevity can be attributed, at least in part, to the addition of smaller amounts of less tannic, more acidic grape varieties. Tasting notes: The nose opens up beautifully after about an hour and the wine has gorgeous ripe and sweet fruit, nice acidity, and perfectly softened tannins.

This amoroso sherry wine, was bottled in 1951. An intense sherry that balances sweet and bitter notes with hints of nuts and oranges.

1949 Cantine Antonio Ferrari, 1949
Il 49 di Antonio Ferrari Special offer was £195 | Now only £139
The Il Barone ‘49 shows a deep garnet colour. For something so old it is still fresh with a touch of oxidation on notes of black cherries, chocolate and espresso infused with sweet spices. The wine has a long finish. This is a wine from the 1949 wine harvest. Fermentation was arrested before complete leaving a high residual sugar content which has preserved the wine. The wine then went into large old Slovenian casks for ten years and then stored in tanks where it has remained until bottling this year. Antonio Ferrari was a wine merchant and negociant in Piedmont who in the mid-20th century developed an interest in the grapes of Puglia. …

Taylor's Port, 1855
