Quevedo Port, 2009

10 Year Old Tawny port

90 pts Robert Parker -

"Color light brown with hints of orange. Aroma very balanced with flavors of dried fruit, cinnamon and a certain floral note. Well defined aromas of wood, resulting from ageing in very old oak. On the palate light coffee beans. Nice lingering finish." Robert Parker Wine Advocate.

The colour is light and brown with hints of orange due to the long ageing in oak cask. Flavour is balanced with notes of dried fruit, cinnamon and a walnuts. On the palate the nutty flavours predominate, along with a touch of coffee and chocolate.

Skeffington Port, 2009

Vintage Port

** 89 points - Neil Martin **

Possibly the bargain of the vintage. Restrained on the nose, intensely perfumed and dominated by Gala melons. Smooth, medium-bodied entry initially with modest levels of fruit. Patience and air allows the fruit to blossom and the tannins to show. The fruit grows to surprising levels - an intriguing and intense mix of raspberries and blackcurrants. Curry powder tingles on the aftertaste before giving way to a long and powerful finish of blackberries.

Reviews
Jancis Robinson:"Very deep purple with a notably `warm` nose reminiscent of raisins. Notably high volatile acidity and masses of smudgy, pruney, sweet fruit.

Taylor's Port, 2009

Vintage Port SINGLE 75cl bottle

95 Points - Wine Journal

Reviews:Going back and forth, the Taylor's 2009 has a lighter nose than the 2007 with precise dark cherry, Seville orange, fresh fig and a hint of scorched soil. The palate is full-bodied packed with ripe black cherries, fresh fig and white pepper; very harmonious and focused although I feel that the 2007 has a little more depth and persistency. Very pretty and very pure, this Taylor's may well put on weight with a couple of years in bottle and merit a higher mark. Tasted May 2011.

Chateau Clos Fourtet, 2008

St Emilion

A strong effort, the 2008 Clos Fourtet was made from tiny yields of 28.5 hectoliters per hectare, and attained 14% natural alcohol. It reveals sweet licorice, black currant and blackberry fruit notes intermixed with truffle and asphalt characteristics in its pure, rich, opulent, full-bodied personality. One of the finest St.-Emilions of the vintage, it is far more accessible than the 2010 and should continue to drink well for 15-20 years.

Chateau Cos d'Estournel, 2008

St Estephe, 2eme Cru Classe (Half Bottle 37.5cl)

***94 Points-Robert Parker's Wine Advocate***

The inky/purple-hued 2008 Cos is still very young, and probably will improve even further as the wine came out of malolactic fermentation very late. It reveals exceptionally precise, fresh aromas of black fruits, crushed rocks, licorice, flowers, and subtle smoke. Dense and high in tannin, the extraordinary richness of polyphenols has given the wine power, substance, and depth, but the sweetness of the tannin and the seemingly low acidity, even though the wine tastes remarkably fresh and the pH is only 3.57 (compared to pH’s close to 4 when the fruit is this ripe), has given the wine a precision and elegance that is remarkable.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2008

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

Varietal mix
Cabernet Sauvignon 83%
Merlot 17%

With a very high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend once again, this Mouton Rothschild displays a very rich range of aromas and flavours throughout the tasting.

The first nose is intense and open: red fruit, blackberry and blackcurrant combine harmoniously with floral notes such as violet. On airing, roasted, toasted notes mingle graciously with delicate touches of cedarwood.

The palate opens with a lively, powerful and full-bodied attack, releasing silky, velvet tannins. Forward fruit on black berry flavours is set off by toasted notes and a delicious touch of vanilla, while the powerful and harmonious finish displays very attractive length.

Chateau Vincent, 2008

Margaux

It would be hard to find a better placed vineyard than that of Ch. Vincent situated, as it is, entirely within an enclave of Ch. Palmer. When her husband died in 1968, Madame Domec formed an arrangement with Ch. Palmer in that they would tend the vineyards and make the wine, in return for two thirds of the harvest. Possibly the best kept secret in Bordeaux.

Delas, 2008

St Joseph Francois de Tournon

The 2008 has a bountiful dark red robe, magenta and black together. The bouquet exudes black berry fruitl. The palate has a good strike of black berry fruit with a lacing of tannin that is ripe; the length is good, and there is richness all through it. A good amount of drinkable bounty here – it is a wine of plenty of depth and well-knit elements. This is clearly a very good vintage. Has a long, clear finish.

Dolcetto d'Alba, 2008

Le Coste - Michele Chiarlo

A native black grape variety of Northern Italy grown almost exclusively in the provinces of Cuneo and Alessandria in Piedmont. It is relatively easy to cultivate, although it is susceptible to fungal diseases. It ripens before Barbera and Nebbiolo and is often grown in high north-facing sites which would be unsuitable for Nebbiolo. The finest Dolcetto wines come from grapes grown on soils rich with white marls, especially those found on the right bank of the River Tauro. The wines generally are low in tannins and acidity and are usually fruity and fragrant, often with hints of almonds.

Dow's Port, 2008

Quinta Senhora da Ribera

Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira is set in the remote, hot and dry Douro Superior and commands a magnificent north bank position, overlooking a broad sweep of the Douro.

Senhora da Ribeira’s wines are some of the finest in the Douro and they complement those from Bomfim in the composition of Dow’s classic Vintage Ports. The latter would be incomplete if one of the two was absent.

The quinta’s high proportion of old vines (45% are over 25 years old) is of critical importance. The old vines are very low-yielding, producing on average less than 1Kg of grapes each, giving intense and concentrated musts which are ideal for classic Vintage Port.
