Chateau Durfort Vivens, 2000

Margaux 2nd Growth Classification

From the outstanding 2000 vintage, the Durfort Vivens has a wonderful bouquet on opening. It needs some time in the decanter to find its balance. Lovely fruit and depth of flavour with a good long finish. Still has a tannic backbone and has a long life ahead of it.

Chateau Grand Pontet, 2000

St Emilion

92 points outstanding - Robert Parker

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Quality has exploded in 2000, offering an extra dimension in both aromas and flavors. A blend of 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon produced from modest yields of 30 hectoliters per hectare, this opaque purple-colored, fat, ripe, exotic, flamboyant effort (coffee, plums, vanilla, and sweet black cherries galore) is a St.-Emilion fruit-bomb made in a modern style. With loads of character, glycerin, fruit, and concentration, this full-bodied, 'stacked and packed' wine will be adored by consumers! (RP) (4/2003)

92 points Wine Spectator
Very intense aromas of minerals and crushed berries, with hints of flowers.

Chateau la Tour Figeac, 2000

St Emilion Grand Cru Bordeaux

***91 Points - Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider***

A 2000 wine produced from the left bank of Bordeaux.

This is fully mature, medium bodied and on the elegant, finesse side of the style range, focusing on its floral, cherry pipe tobacco, thyme and truffle nose. Soft, ripe, cherries are all over the finish. There is no need to age this further. The wine was produced from blending 60% Merlot with 40% Cabernet Franc.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 2000

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe
100 points Robert Parker

The 2000 Lafite Rothschild is one of the legendary wines of the great 2000 vintage.

Critical Acclaim
I expected the 2000 Lafite Rothschild to be much too young, but I was blown away by how it performed at this meal. A classic Lafite with notes of lead pencil shavings and black currants as well as a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, it possessed striking intensity as well as aromatics. The wine seemed more evolved than I remember, but it is still an adolescent in terms of maturity. This beautiful, rich, full offering is a stunning achievement.
Score: 100 Robert Parker, Hedonists Gazette, July 2013

Subtle aromas of currants, leather, tobacco and cedar.

Chateau Langoa Barton, 2000

St-Julien 3rd Growth Classification

*** 91 Points - Robert Parker ***
*** 94 Points - Neil Martin ***

Reviews "Showing far more impressively from bottle than it ever did from cask, this wine has turned out to be an outstanding Langoa Barton. It reveals a deep, saturated purple color and an expansive, sweet nose of earthy black currants, plum, and melted licorice. Structured, dense, chewy, with full body, good acidity, and plenty of tannin, this is undeniably a wine for patient connoisseurs, or as the French say, a vin de garde. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2035." Robert Parker Wine Advocate 2003.

"A marvellous millennial Langoa! It has a very deep garnet core with just the first signs of ageing on the rim.

Chateau Lynch-Bages

Pauillac, 5ème Cru Classé

***97 Points - Robert Parker***
***95 Points - Jeff Leve***
***93 Points - Jeannie Cho Lee***

Beginning to open magnificently, the still dense purple-colored 2000 reveals a blossoming bouquet of blackberries, cassis, graphite and pen ink. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that have resolved themselves beautifully over the last eleven years, this wine is still an adolescent, but it exhibits admirable purity, texture, mouthfeel and power combined with elegance. One of the all-time great examples of Lynch Bages, the 2000 is just beginning to drink well yet promises to last for another 20-25+ years".

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2000

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

97 Points (Parker)

"The 2000 Mouton Rothschild is at its best with about 24-48 hours of decanting. A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot, the wine offers a saturated ruby/purple color in addition to reticent but promising aromas of toast, coffee, licorice, creme de cassis, and roasted nuts. Dense, chewy, and backward, with tremendous purity and density in addition to obvious toasty oak, it is full-bodied, powerful, tannic, and backward. Twenty-four to 48 hours of aeration only hints at its ultimate potential. This blockbuster will be exceptionally long-lived. It is not as expressive as the other first-growth Medocs, but give it time.

Chateau Palmer, 2000

Margaux 3rd Growth Classification

*** 96 points Robert Parker ***

Robert Parker writes of this wine... "This has turned out to be a prodigious Palmer. The saturated purple color offers up sexy, full-bodied, almost masculine notes of roasted meats, blackberries, and creme de cassis intermixed with notions of toast, smoke, and camphor. Only 50% of the production made it into the 2000, a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon and 47% Merlot. The wine is opulent, rich, and full-bodied, with tannin that has become sweeter with age. Its best showing yet, most importantly, has been from bottle. This is a great Palmer that should rival the best of recent vintages, which have all been stunning, as this estate continues to go from strength to strength.

Chateau Prieure-Lichine, 2000

Reviews:
Undeniably the finest Prieure-Lichine in 30-40 years, this textured, rich, medium to full-bodied 2000 boasts a dark ruby/purple colour in addition to a knock-out nose of black cherries, cassis, tobacco leaf, cocoa, and toasty oak in the background. The wine is sweet on the attack, full-bodied, and well-textured, with oodles of fruit and glycerin. This is sexy stuff that can be drunk early, but will age gracefully for 15-16 years. Chateauneuf du Pape, 2000

Chateau de Beaucastel
94 Points Robert Parker

97 points Jeb Dunnuck
Absolutely firing on all cylinders and with an open, borderline slutty profile, the 2000 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a dream on the nose, showing complex, meaty aromas of black truffle, spice rack, charcuterie, and garrigue. There’s fantastic intensity here and you can smell this wine as soon as the bottle is opened. Just as good on the palate, the wine sports a medium to full-bodied, ripe profile, perfect balance, and a dazzling finish that has you looking for another glass. I’m a fan and while this will no doubt continue to shine, don’t hesitate to pop bottles now.

Domaine du Caillou Vacheron Pouzin Non Filtre

Chateauneuf Domaine du Caillou dates back to at least the first part of the 20th century in the Southern Rhone Valley. However, the modern era for Clos du Caillou began when it was purchased in 1956 by the Pouzin family.

The domaine was managed by Claude Pouzin until 1995. At that point in time, Sylvie Pouzin, the daughter of Claude Pouzin and her husband, Jean-Denis Vacheron began to run the estate, taking Clos du Caillou in a new direction.

Croft Port, 2000

Vintage Port

Reviews: An outstanding port rating 90 points. "A striking, individualistic nose of spring flowers, blackberries, blueberries, and lead pencil shavings emerges from this saturated purple-coloured 2000. Evolved yet expansive, sweet, and generous, it admirably conceals moderately high tannins under a wealth of fruit and glycerin. The aromatic profile and attack merit a score in the mid-nineties, but the finish is short, thus lowering the overall rating. Dow's Port, 2000

Vintage Port HALF BOTTLES

**94 Points** Robert Parker
"An opaque blue/purple colour (typical of this vintage's top offerings) is followed by a strikingly provocative aromatic display (flowers, licorice, blackberries, and cassis). This firmly-structured, classic, tightly-knit, restrained port exhibits brilliant purity as well as impressive intensity. While not the most dramatic or flamboyant, it is a beautiful, classically structured port that will age gracefully. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2030." Robert Parker
