Chateauneuf du Pape, 2000
Chateau de Beaucastel
94 Points Robert Parker
97 points Jeb Dunnuck
Absolutely firing on all cylinders and with an open, borderline slutty profile, the 2000 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a dream on the nose, showing complex, meaty aromas of black truffle, spice rack, charcuterie, and garrigue. There’s fantastic intensity here and you can smell this wine as soon as the bottle is opened. Just as good on the palate, the wine sports a medium to full-bodied, ripe profile, perfect balance, and a dazzling finish that has you looking for another glass. I’m a fan and while this will no doubt continue to shine, don’t hesitate to pop bottles now. …

Domaine du Caillou Vacheron Pouzin Non Filtre
Chateauneuf Domaine du Caillou dates back to at least the first part of the 20th century in the Southern Rhone Valley. However, the modern era for Clos du Caillou began when it was purchased in 1956 by the Pouzin family.
The domaine was managed by Claude Pouzin until 1995. At that point in time, Sylvie Pouzin, the daughter of Claude Pouzin and her husband, Jean-Denis Vacheron began to run the estate, taking Clos du Caillou in a new direction.

Vintage Port
Special Offer | was £59.95 | Now £49.95
Reviews: An outstanding port rating 90 points. "A striking, individualistic nose of spring flowers, blackberries, blueberries, and lead pencil shavings emerges from this saturated purple-coloured 2000. Evolved yet expansive, sweet, and generous, it admirably conceals moderately high tannins under a wealth of fruit and glycerin. The aromatic profile and attack merit a score in the mid-nineties, but the finish is short, thus lowering the overall rating. Hermitage, 2000
Tardeiu-Laurent
There are 250 cases of the 2000 Hermitage, a more elegant, finesse-styled effort compared to the blockbuster 1999 and 1998. The wine is concentrated for the vintage, offering a deep purple color followed by notions of licorice and creme de cassis, sweet tannin, low acidity, and a forward, plump, concentrated style. This well-balanced Hermitage will be drinkable at a younger age than the compelling 1999. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2016.

Monferrato, 2000
La Spinetta - Pin
The Barbera is sourced form the Bionzo vineyard, harvested in the middle to end of September, the Nebbiolo in the beginning to middle of October; each variety is fermented separately for 7-8 days in temperature-controlled rotofermenters, while malolactic fermentation takes place in oak. The vineyard that Pin comes from was planted in 1975 on calcareous soils in Nieve. Maturation occurs entirely in new, medium toasted French oak for 16-18 months, after which the two wines are blended together and transferred to stainless steel vats for 2 months before bottling. The wine is cellared, in bottles, for another 3 months before release. …

Sfursat, 2000
Nino Negri
The Sfursat di Valtellina wine is a dry red “Passito” style wine and is made by making wine with dried grapes. The best bunches of Chiavennasca are selected and laid out on specially made mats in aerated purpose-built cellars to dry (similar to the process in Valpolicella for Amarone). The “breva” wind which blows through this region has historically assisted the production of the Sfursat wines. The grapes spend about 3 and a half months drying like this and towards the end of January (once the main winery tasks for the other wines are all finished) the grapes will have lost about 40% of their own weight, the sugars will have concentrated and the signature passito aroma will be present. …

Strict selection has led to a wine of stunning complexity, power and richness. This is one that will be at its peak 50 years hence. The palate is gloriously sweet and dense, with huge potential for the long term.
Reviews: "The Taylor Vargellas Vinha Velha 2000 has a more introverted than Taylor’s Vintage, an earthy bouquet with touches of orange essence developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, good backbone, quite reserved and composed at the moment. …
