Chateau l'Enclos, 2000

Pomerol

The 2000 chateau l'enclos is made from a blend of 82% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec. It has an intense, rich nose reticent of blackberry, blackcurrant, cedar and spice. It is both silky smooth and opulent on the palate, with fantastically integrated oak and smooth tannins. Enjoy this with braised lamb shanks with crushed herb potatoes.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2000

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe

97 Points (Parker)

"The 2000 Mouton Rothschild is at its best with about 24-48 hours of decanting. A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot, the wine offers a saturated ruby/purple color in addition to reticent but promising aromas of toast, coffee, licorice, creme de cassis, and roasted nuts. Dense, chewy, and backward, with tremendous purity and density in addition to obvious toasty oak, it is full-bodied, powerful, tannic, and backward. Twenty-four to 48 hours of aeration only hints at its ultimate potential. This blockbuster will be exceptionally long-lived. It is not as expressive as the other first-growth Medocs, but give it time.

Chateau Rouget, 2000

Pomerol

Wine Spectator: 92 Points
Very grapey, with violet, lilac and other flowers on the nose. This is full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and a superripe, raisiny aftertaste. A full-throttle red from a chateau people forget about. Score range: 89-91

Wine Advocate: 90 Points
The finest Rouget since the mid-sixties (i.e., 1964), this dense plum/ruby-colored 2000 offers aromas and flavors of licorice, balsam wood, plums, black cherry liqueur, and raspberries presented in a full-bodied, plump, chewy format. The flamboyant aromatics are followed by an equally impressive, lush attack, but serious tannin appears in the finish of this meaty, full-bodied Pomerol.

Chateau Sociando Mallet, 2000

Medoc Cru Grand Bourgeois

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

This is a beautiful wine and certainly one of the great sleepers of the vintage. I originally predicted that this wine would be at full maturity between 2007 and 2028, but I would push that back by a good 4-5 years. Still inky/purple, with notes of acacia flowers intermixed with wet rocks, black currants, and blueberries, the wine is full-bodied, displays no real evidence of any oak, and offers up terrific concentration, texture, and length. Chateau Soutard, 2000

New

St Emilion Grand Cru Classe

This was one of the smoothest, softest wines. This has a hauntingly elegant nose and when you drink it it feels like it evaporates in the mouth. The body and richness is there and it leaves a finish of 20-30 seconds which takes this wine to another level of complexity.

Chateauneuf du Pape, 2000

Clos du Papes

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The Burgundian-styled 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape is drinking at point today. Possessing beautiful notes of forest floor, truffles, spice, garrigue and sweet cherry and kirsch like fruit, this beauty has notable freshness and purity, medium to full-bodied richness, fine tannin and a layered, integrated texture that keeps you coming back to the glass. There's no need to delay gratification here and I'd enjoy bottles over the coming 4-5 years. (JD) (9/2015)

The area’s most highly regarded wines come from the Chianti Classico zone which is the heartland of the Chianti wine region – its traditional and longest-established vinicultural area. This fame is due not just to the high quality of the wines, but also to the classico zone's iconic Tuscan landscape and wine making traditions. Croft Port, 2000

Vintage Port

Reviews: An outstanding port rating 90 points. "A striking, individualistic nose of spring flowers, blackberries, blueberries, and lead pencil shavings emerges from this saturated purple-coloured 2000. Evolved yet expansive, sweet, and generous, it admirably conceals moderately high tannins under a wealth of fruit and glycerin. The aromatic profile and attack merit a score in the mid-nineties, but the finish is short, thus lowering the overall rating. Robert Parker Wine Advocate Rating 90 points (Outstanding) Drink now to 2025

Dow's Port, 2000

Vintage Port HALF BOTTLES

**94 Points** Robert Parker
"An opaque blue/purple colour (typical of this vintage's top offerings) is followed by a strikingly provocative aromatic display (flowers, licorice, blackberries, and cassis). This firmly-structured, classic, tightly-knit, restrained port exhibits brilliant purity as well as impressive intensity. While not the most dramatic or flamboyant, it is a beautiful, classically structured port that will age gracefully. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2030." Robert Parker

Hermitage, 2000

Tardeiu-Laurent

There are 250 cases of the 2000 Hermitage, a more elegant, finesse-styled effort compared to the blockbuster 1999 and 1998. The wine is concentrated for the vintage, offering a deep purple color followed by notions of licorice and creme de cassis, sweet tannin, low acidity, and a forward, plump, concentrated style. This well-balanced Hermitage will be drinkable at a younger age than the compelling 1999. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2016.

Merlot, 2000

Siebeneich - Colterenzio - Riserva

Merlot can also produce a delightful and intriguing pure varietal wine. While Merlot has a long history of use as a blending wine, pure Merlot wines have been relatively slow in gaining momentum in Italy. That too has changed and today some of the world’s best Merlot wines bear Italian labels. The Trentino wine is from well-positioned and carefully maintained hillside vineyards near the city of Trento in northeastern Italy.
