1982 Taittinger
Vintage Champagne, Masson Label
Amongst Champagne's luxury cuveés and super-premium labels, Taittinger's wines live on one extreme end of the style spectrum. While many top Champagnes can be quite difficult to approach in their youth, with laser-like focus and delineation, even austerity, Taittinger instead tends to be immediately open and welcoming. These are beautiful, delicious Champagnes, with bubbles lazily winding their way up to the surface, inviting you to take another sip.

The 1982 Chateau Cabonnieux has been professionally stored since original purchase. Now 40 years old, it has aged gracefully into a mature Bordeaux. This wine has scored over 91 points on Cellar Tracker.

Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou, 1982
St Julien 2me Cru Classe
*** 96 Points - Robert Parker ***
Reviews: "The 1982 is still 5-8 years away from full maturity, but it exhibits a dense ruby/plum/garnet color to the rim as well as a sweet perfume of forest floor, spice box, cedar, and copious quantities of black fruits. Medium to full-bodied and beautifully pure with sweet tannins, this wine has aged more slowly than I initially expected. It is the finest Ducru Beaucaillou produced after the 1961 and before the 2003." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 2009

Chateau Durfort Vivens, 1982
Margaux 2nd Growth Classification
Medium garnet in colour with yellowing and bricking towards the rim. This is very much alive. Wet leaves, forest floor, sweet tobacco, raspberry, red cherry, vanilla, and white flowers on the nose. There is a lot of sweetly perfumed classic Margaux aromatics. Secondary and tertiary notes dominate but there is still a lot of fruit left here leading to a nice long finish.

Chateau Gruaud Larose, 1982
St Julien 2me Cru Classe
In serious competition for one of the best bottles of 82 Gruaud Larose I have ever had, this is a beauty. Clean on the nose, with its blend of cedar, tobacco leaf, cigar box, smoke, cassis, wet earth and leafy green herbs with a generous blast of red fruits, the wine wants to get noticed. Still looking and feeling young for its age, the wine is full-bodied, rich, powerful and wildly regal. The finish fills your mouth with layers of sweet, ripe earthy red fruits, wet earth and tobacco. This is really in the zone, and while not inexpensive, for a 1982 Bordeaux at this level, it is a deal!

Chateau Lynch-Bages, 1982
Pauillac 5me Cru Classe
*** 94 Points - Parker *** "One of the most drinkable, complex, and tasty 1982s of the northern Medoc, this wine is beginning to reach its plateau of full maturity. Still a dense ruby/purple color with some lightening at the edge, it offers up classic aromas of cedar wood, fruitcake, tobacco leaf, and creme de cassis. This full-bodied, opulent, fleshy, sexy Pauillac can be drunk now with great pleasure and complexity, or cellared for another 10-15 years. " Parker Wine Advocate 2009.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 1982
Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe
*** Robert Parker 100 points ***
This wine remains one of the legends of Bordeaux. It has thrown off the backward, youthful style that existed during its first 25 years of life, and over the last 4-5 years has developed such secondary nuances as cedar and spice box. The creme de cassis, underlying floral note, full-bodied power, extraordinary purity, multilayered texture, and finish of over a minute are a showcase for what this Chateau accomplished in 1982. The wine is still amazingly youthful, vibrant, and pure. It appears capable of remaining fruity and vibrant in 2082! Thank God it is beginning to budge, as I would like to drink most of my supply before I kick the bucket. …

Chateau Pontet Canet, 1982
New
Pauillac 5me Cru Classe
The 1982 Pontet Canet is now fully mature and drinking well. A fantastic gift for a 40th Anniversary in 1982
Reviews:
"A solidly made effort, the 1982 Pontet Canet reveals some pink at the edge, but it remains a medium-bodied wine offering hints of menthol and red as well as black currants. Although it lacks concentration, the sensuality and suppleness provided by the vintage character are still appealing." Robert Parker 2009.

Chateau Talbot, 1982
St Julien 4th Growth Classification
Rating an exceptional 95 Points, Robert Parker describes this wine as follows...
"Along with the 1986, the 1982 is one of the greatest Talbots ever made. Far more evolved than its stablemate, Gruaud Larose, it exhibits a dense garnet color to the rim along with a huge, sweet, exotic nose of charcoal, beef blood, licorice, herbs, and black fruits. A hint of figs suggests borderline overripeness, but the wine remains fleshy and full-bodied with sweet tannin and an expansive, heady mouthfeel. While fully mature, it should hold for another decade." Parker, Wine Advocate # 183
Jun 2009.

Croft Port, 1982
Vintage Port
A medium-boded Croft port, the 1982 vintage port has a light and fruity aroma, backed up by delicious dark fruits on the palate with a sweetness that hints at burnt sugar at times. Usually excellent - as with this '82… Fairly deep, plummy, trying to make a start at maturing; very good, rich, intense, rather high-toned, figgy, raisiny nose; a big sweet wine, with a very attractive, slightly raisiny flavour, touch of leanniness, otherwise excellent balance. Quinta do Noval Nacional, 1982
Quinta do Noval Nacional
86/100 Wine Spectator
90/100 Wine Doctor
Noval is particularly famous for its Nacional, a Port produced in some years only from a 2 hectare parcel at the heart of the Noval vineyard where ungrafted vines survive. This is remarkable, because phylloxera, the root munching aphid that necessitates grafting vines onto resistant American rootstock, is endemic in the Douro
