Description

Amarone della Valpolicella is the most prestigious wine from the Verona area and one of the most important Italian reds. Carefully selected grapes are dried on cane mats for 3 - 4 months before a lengthy maceration and 5 - 8 years in oak casks. It is this process that makes Amarone wines extremely long-lived. Ruby colour with browning edges. Potent nose of tar, black liquorice and sweet prunes. Deep and creamy with spicy black prune and raisiny fruit. Still loaded with acidity that is almost overwhelming. Finishes with an earthy complexity and a hint of alcohol.
