Description
1965 Chianti, Frescobaldi – Pomino
Tuscany, Italy
An elegant and historically significant bottling from the Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi family, sourced from the high-altitude Pomino vineyards east of Florence. The Pomino zone has long been prized for its cooler climate and refined, perfumed style of Sangiovese.
Now beautifully aged, this 1965 Chianti shows a pale ruby-garnet hue with aromas of dried cherry, cedar, sweet herbs, and a touch of balsamic spice. On the palate it is silky and savoury, revealing notes of dried strawberry, leather, and almond, underpinned by gentle acidity and soft, faded tannins.
Serving & Pairing:
Serve lightly decanted at 16–17°C in medium Burgundy or Chianti glasses. Complements Tuscan classics such as bistecca alla Fiorentina, tomato-based pasta, wild mushroom risotto, or aged pecorino cheese.
Drink now. A graceful, mellow Chianti from one of Tuscany’s most aristocratic houses, offering a glimpse into the region’s winemaking heritage.
