Description

This 1985 Chianti has reached a beautifully mature stage, showing the nuanced character of aged Sangiovese. The nose offers aromas of dried cherry, plum, leather, tobacco, and hints of earthy forest floor, along with subtle spice and balsamic notes. On the palate it is medium-bodied and supple, with softened tannins, balanced acidity, and flavours of stewed red fruit, cedar, and a gentle savoury undertone. The finish is long, smooth, and harmonious.

Serve at 17 °C (63 °F) after decanting for 30–45 minutes to allow the wine’s tertiary aromas to fully open. Excellent with roasted or braised meats, game, mushroom risotto, and aged cheeses such as Pecorino or Parmigiano Reggiano.
