A bottle of 1993 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Champagne, produced from 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay fruit, 65% from the Côtes des Blancs and 35% from the Montagne des Reims.
Ruinart was founded in 1729 and is the oldest Champagne house in the world. Dom Ruinart is the house's top cuvee, first released in 1959.

A beautifully matured wine, all toast and rich vanilla with a touch of currants still there, suggesting the wine has more time to develop. This is how mature Champagne should be, and is a good reminder of how different it is from the fruitier wines we are more used to.
