Description

1965 Grignolino, Valfieri di Marengo

Piedmont, Italy

A rare survivor from the Valfieri di Marengo estate, this 1965 Grignolino represents one of Piedmont’s most distinctive and delicate native red grape expressions. Traditionally vinified to highlight its pale hue and aromatic lift, Grignolino produces wines that are light in colour yet intriguingly complex with age.

Now fully mature, this wine shows a pale amber-garnet colour and an ethereal bouquet of dried rose petals, tea leaf, autumn spice, and faded red fruits. The palate is fine-boned and elegant, offering gentle notes of dried cherry, almond, and earthy minerality, carried by soft acidity and subtle tannin.

Serving & Pairing:
Serve at 15–16°C, slightly cooler than a full-bodied red, to preserve its delicate aromatics. Ideal with charcuterie, mushroom dishes, roast quail, or aged hard cheeses. A charming choice for those who appreciate the nuance and restraint of traditional Piedmontese winemaking.

Drink now. A graceful, time-softened Grignolino offering a rare glimpse into a lesser-known side of 1960s Piedmont viticulture.
