1985 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva — Sanguinetto
A classically crafted Riserva from Sanguinetto, showcasing mature Tuscan elegance. Four decades on, this 1985 bottling brings the depth and poise of well-aged Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese) with the quiet confidence of time in bottle.

Tasting profile — savoury, floral, refined
Brick-garnet with an orange rim. Aromas of dried cherry, rose petal and orange peel drift into leather, tobacco leaf, cedar and sweet spice. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, with resolved tannins, lively acidity and flavours of dried red berries, tea leaf and balsamic herb. Long, graceful, gently earthy finish. (As with any wine of this age, natural bottle variation applies.)

Serve & enjoy — gentle handling
Stand upright for 24–48 hours to settle sediment. Open carefully (Ah-So/Durand recommended) and decant lightly for 20–30 minutes—just enough to remove the deposit without over-aeration. Serve at 16–18 °C in Burgundy stems to let the perfume shine.

    Food pairings — Tuscan classics
Brilliant with pappardelle al ragù, mushroom risotto, roast pork with fennel, grilled lamb cutlets, or aged Pecorino Toscano. For something simple: good bread, olive oil and shards of Parmigiano.

    A meaningful 40-year milestone
Perfect for 40th birthdays/anniversaries in 2025. Sanguinetto’s traditional style and Riserva ageing deliver a bottle rich in story and place—an elegant, contemplative glass for a special night.
