Description: Oscar and Claudia Quevedo have recently declared their 2019 Quevedo Vintage port. This follows their acclaimed 2017 and 2018 Vintage. 2019 was a roller-coaster of a year with an exceptionally wet spring followed by a summer punctuated by heatwaves. Whilst not a general declaration, the ports we have tasted are excellent. Quevedo, who have a several prime vineyards, each with their own micro-climate, were able to select the best grapes to blend into their vintage and the result is a port worthy of its declaration.
Palmer 2009 White Colheita Port - 50cl Bottle.
This rare white port-wine has been stored in seasoned oak casks since the 2009 harvest until it was bottled this year. White ports are a true rarity and this is an outstanding example. Tasting Notes: The 2009 Palmer white port has a golden amber colour. On the nose it has a very fine, elegant aroma of honey, and peach infused with a spicy redolence of citrus peel and cinnamon. There are layers of complexity here with mint and a touch of walnut. The palate is perfectly balanced with a fresh acidity and sweetness. It has an amazing rich mellow flavour and an elegant citrus finish that lasts for minutes.
Messias 2016 Late Bottled Vintage Port - 75cl
This is an excellent late bottled vintage port from the good 2016 vintage.
Inky black in colour this port has a deep concentration of blackberry jam and currant liqueur in this classic dessert wine. This style of port is designed to be consumed early and will not improve with further cellaring. Caves Messias is a historic family owned company that produced high quality port since 1926. Under their care and attention they have become renown for the quality of their colheitas and vintage ports at a competitive price. The grapes coming from their Quinta do Cachao Quinta do Rei Estates.
Burmester 2006 Colheita Port
The 2006 Burmester Colheita Port Burmester is a brown colour. It has a rich and delicate aroma, marked with the presence of dry fruits, spices and vanilla. The flavour is silky and characterised by the presence of raisins and molasses. It has a great structure and a long and lasting taste in the mouth. It‘s a perfect wine to serve with some caramelised candies, dry fruits or cheese.
