Chateau Petit Hallet, 1995

Sauternes, Sweet Wine

The 1995 Château Petit Hallet offers a unique and rewarding tasting experience. Its rich, complex flavors and balanced sweetness make it an excellent choice for those who appreciate aged sweet wines.

Serving Suggestions
Serve slightly chilled, around 50-54°F (10-12°C), to appreciate the full range of its flavors and aromas. Decanting might be beneficial to allow the wine to breathe and to remove any sediment that may have formed over the years.

Chateau Pichon-Longueville, Baron, 1995

Pauillac 2eme Cru Classe

1995 Chateau Pichon-Longueville Baron
Over the space of a few years, the grand vin of Pichon Longueville Baron has established itself as one of the best crus of Pauillac. Full and concentrated, it has unique, fine-grained tannins which make it absolutely delicious. Indeed, like the best wines of the appellation, it is extremely effective at marrying contrasts: power and finesse.

93 points James Suckling
This is surprisingly delicate and fine now with currant and spice character and hints of nuts. It is full bodied with refined texture and a beautiful finish. Inner quote mark (6/2016)

91 points Vinous
The 1995 Pichon-Baron is a wine that tasted extremely well several years ago, but I wonder how well it is continuing to evolve.

This is the third vintage (1989 and 1990 were the other two) where Le Tertre-Roteboeuf exhibits a Le Pin-like exotic richness and opulence. The wine exhibits a dense ruby/purple color, and a compelling set of aromatics consisting of pain grille, ripe black cherry and cassis fruit, intermixed with truffles, mocha, and toffee.

Carruades de Chateau Lafite, 1990

Pauillac

Carruades is the second label wine produced by Chateau Lafite-Rothschild.
After fermentation and maceration, the wines are tasted, selected and put together according to their different qualities. This step is very important because this is where we make the difference between the great "Lafite" and the second wine "Carruades de Lafite". The wines are drained off into oak barrels. We use 100% new barrels for the ageing of Lafite. The year after, these same barrels will be used for the Carruades.

Carruades de Château Lafite is the celebrated second wine of the iconic Château Lafite Rothschild, situated in the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, France.

Chateau Cos d'Estournel, 1990

St Estephe, 2me Cru Classe, Bordeaux
** 94 Points- Wine Advocate **

In contrast to the 1989, the 1990 is a spectacular wine, and, along with the 1986, 1982, and 1953, one of the four finest Cos d'Estournels made in the post-World War II era. Bruno Prats believes it is the finest wine he has ever made. In the most recent tasting, the 1990 was even better than in the past, charming me as well as other tasters with its flashy display of opulent Merlot (about 40% of the blend) mixed with ripe Cabernet Sauvignon. It was one of the more forward 1990s in the tasting, which no doubt accounted for its precocious showing. This super-concentrated wine possesses a roasted herb, sweet, jammy black fruit-scented nose, with noteworthy opulence and succulence.

The 1990 la Tour Blanche is a beautiful sweet wine from The Sauternes region of Bordeaux. 1990 highly regarded and is considered one of the classic vintages from this estate. It is known for its richness, complexity, and excellent aging potential. It is a wonderful experience to enjoy it now, although it has years of life left in it. Make sure to serve it slightly chilled, around 12-14°C (54-57°F), to fully appreciate its complex flavours and aromas.

Tasting Notes The 1990 la Tour Blanche is medium gold in colour with quite an earthy, savoury nose giving up perfumed notions of orange blossoms and honeysuckle over preserved apricots, apple pie and allspice hints.

Vieux Chateau Certan, 1989

Pomerol
***94 Points- Neal Martin for the Wine Advocate

***94 Points- Neal Martin for the Wine Advocate, tasted 2016***

"The 1989 Vieux Château Certan has long been one of my favorite wines of that decade. The bouquet shows no signs of relinquishing that title with gorgeous black truffle, bay leaf, warm gravel and briary scents that are simply beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity, "warm earth" on the entry, leather and truffle, great depth here with sublime precision on the finish, which is bridled with hints of mushroom and cloves. Maybe this is reaching its peak? Then again, it shows absolutely no signs of reaching the end of its plateau.

Vieux Chateau Certan, 1988

Pomerol
Good Provenance
Stored at Wine society since original purchase

91 points Vinous
The 1988 Vieux Chateau Certan is a vintage that I have not tasted often, something I rue even more having been reacquainted with it. To be honest, for the first five minutes it felt overawed by the 1989. However, it soon gets its act together to deliver and gorgeous nose of black fruit, melted tar and cigar box, unashamedly classic in style, less sensual than the succeeding two vintages and yet extremely well defined. The palate is well balanced with fine tannin, perfectly judged acidity, tobacco and cedar dominating the second half and yet there remains more than enough freshness and length to urge you back for another sip.
